‘Suicide Squad’ Most Tweeted Upcoming Movie Of The Summer

Suicide Squad is only a few months away, and reports indicate that many are anticipating the movie’s release. With social media, movies are easily promoted by sharing stills or videos from an upcoming film. Using social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram film marketers can reach millions of people, and shared content from filmmakers typically gets fans excited. According to a report from USA Today, Suicide Squad is the most tweeted upcoming movie of the summer, and it has been tweeted more than 1 million times between March 1 and May 26.

According to MovieWeb, Suicide Squad squashed its other competitors when it came to tweets. In second place is Finding Dory with more than 850,000 tweets. Next in the social rankings is Ghostbusters at 565,000. Other upcoming summer movies include Warcraft, Me Before You, and Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

Since the first trailer of the movie came out, there was already a lot of buzz about the film. What most likely helped the boost in tweets was a new trailer that was released in April. In addition, Suicide Squad also has an official Twitter account that is constantly being updated, plus it has 224,000 followers to date.

Suicide Squad takes home the Twitter crown for unreleased movies, but when it comes to movies that are already in theaters, Captain America: Civil War takes the top spot with more than 10.4 million tweets, as reported by Comicbook Resources. The movie was promoted on Twitter with the hashtags #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan, urging Twitter users to choose which side they are on.

Suicide Squad‘s trailers have also been popular online. The first trailer, which was released 4 months ago, has more than 48 million views to date. The Blitz trailer, released a month ago, currently has more than 8.1 million views.

Updates and other promotional videos and images for Suicide Squad are also posted on the movie’s official Instagram account, which has 759,000 followers as of writing. The movie’s Facebook account also has more than 2.5 million likes.

On Friday, a group of lucky individuals got to see a test screening of Suicide Squad in California. Those who were present at the screening immediately tweeted their reactions to the film, and the audience response seems to be positive. See some of their tweets below.

However, some are questioning if there really was a test screening that happened. Out of all the tweets, there seems to be no one who said anything bad about the film. In addition, there was no mention of Jared Leto’s performance as the Joker, which is one of the most anticipated portrayals in the film that fans can’t wait to see.

It looks like only time can tell whether Suicide Squad really is the success that it seems to be, and fans need to wait for two more months before they can watch the movie in theaters. Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters on August 5. The movie stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and many others.
