Kirsten Storms Releases Statement Explaining Her Break From ‘General Hospital’

Fans of General Hospital were shocked when news came out that Kirsten Storms was going to be taking a break from the show for a bit. Her character, Maxie Jones, will be replaced for a while and Kirsten will eventually be back. When this news came out, nobody really knew why, and now Kirsten Storms has finally released a statement revealing why she is taking a break. Soap Opera Digest shared the details of why Kirsten won’t be around for a bit. Fans can’t imagine the show without her.

Kirsten shared the statement on her Twitter account. This came after fans have been wondering the details about why she would take a break. Here is what she had to say about taking some time off from GH.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love & support. I’m taking a little break from work due to some skin issues I’ve been having. The dr’s say my breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn’t take too long to get under control. (I can say that I’m on the better end of it now) However, it was becoming too difficult for GH to coverup. And we all know in this biz appearance is important. In the meantime I look forward to seeing Molly [Burnett, ex-Melanie, DAYS, who is temporarily replacing her] on screen as I take the next few weeks to heal.”

Us Weekly had originally shared about Kirsten Storms taking a break, and that Molly Burnett would be taking over as Maxie. At this time, nobody knew what was going on with Kirsten Storms, but there was some speculation that it could have to do with the fact that she is getting a divorce from her husband, General Hospital costar Brandon Barash. They also didn’t share how long Kirsten would be gone from the show for, but now it has been revealed that it should just be a few weeks.

Brandon and Kirsten have been married for three years and have one daughter together. They have even played opposite each other recently on General Hospital. The couple had seemed to have a great marriage, but they recently revealed that they were calling it quits. At the time, Brandon shared that they were getting along fine in his statement.

“We are splitting due to the cliche irreconcilable differences, but we’re splitting amicably. We have every intention of remaining a family through this and co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the efforts of raising her in a healthy environment.”

Back in 2011, Kirsten Storms left her role as Maxie Jones for about 10 months due to some health issues. It is not shocking for someone to take a break from a soap opera. These shows are filmed year-round and air five times a week, so they do not get the big break that other actors and actresses do. Tyler Christopher is also taking a break from his character of Nikolas Cassadine for a bit.

Now, fans are curious to see if Maxie Jones and Nathan West will end up getting married while Kirsten Storms is gone from the show. They are working on planning their wedding and the fans really want to see Kirsten Storms in the role of Maxie when the wedding goes down. If she is only gone for a few weeks, as planned, it will not be a big deal for Kirsten to be back in time for Maxie’s big day.
