Family In Mourning After Body Of 1-year-old Girl Kaylee Jackson Found One Day After Father Kyler’s Body Recovered

Authorities announced today that the body of missing one-year-old Kaylee Jackson was recovered near the Georgiana Slough Bridge on Sunday, the same remote area of Sacramento County where the body of her father Kyler Jackson was found just yesterday.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement about the body of the little girl being found on Sunday and deputies confirmed that it was in the same area of Walnut Grove where her father was found just a day earlier. Both Kyler and Kaylee Jackson had reportedly been missing since Sunday, May 22, when the two were last seen at approximately 11 p.m. in Antioch.

During the search for the missing 23-year-old father and his one-year-old daughter police advised that Kyler and Kaylee were supposed to be heading home that night to Sacramento, but family members reported that they had never arrived. According to Fox 40Kyler’s body was found on Saturday in the waters along Highway 160 and River Road just outside Sacramento, south of Walnut Grove in an area known as Georgiana Slough.

Jayonna Mason, the mother of the young girl had spoken to the media earlier in the week and said that the two were supposed to have taken Highway 160 to get to Sacramento. She feared that their car could have possibly gone into the water because that particular stretch of road that runs along the delta is known to often be very windy. At the time, Kyler was reported to have been driving a 2002 silver Ford Taurus.

After the body of the father was located yesterday police decided to suspend the search that night but planned to resume the following day. When they continued searching those waters today, with deputies reporting to the scene at about 6 pm., it was a boater who first spotted the body of the small child about a quarter mile from where her father’s body was discovered.

The body of Kyler Jackson was discovered after two local fire departments had been dispatched to a water rescue in the Georgiana Slough near Andrus Island Road. After the discovery was made, the family of Kyler Jackson was called in, having already been in the area handing out flyers and raising awareness all week, and the relatives of the young father said that they did indeed believe that the body belonged to their loved one. The body was later positively identified by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

KTLA reported that today, when the authorities reported that the body of a toddler had been found and identified as Kaylee, the baby girl’s mother collapsed in the face of the devastating news that her child was dead.

The silver Ford Taurus that the father and daughter were said to be travelling in has not yet been located and thus far they are not sure if this is a drowning or not and it is still unknown exactly how Kyler and Kylee died. The sheriff’s department has however reported that there is a large meta anomaly located at the bottom of the waters were the two were found and it is believed that this could possibly the car that the two members of the Jackson family had been driving in. It is expected that at some point they will attempt to get a better look at the object and if it is indeed the car, it will be removed from the water.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will be continuing their investigation into the circumstance surrounding the death of the father and daughter.

Authorities are urging that anyone with any possible information about the pair call the Antioch Police Department at 925-778-2441 or Sacramento police at 916-264-5471.
