NBA Facebook Page: Warriors VS. Cavs For NBA Finals Games 1 And 2 In Oakland — Before OKC’s Game 7!

The official NBA Facebook page has some explaining to do about the teams it predicted making it to the NBA Finals. As of this writing, the events tab of the NBA on Facebook claims that the NBA does not have any upcoming events under the “upcoming events” section of that tab. The “past events” section lists a plethora of events from the NBA. However, there is buzz about the events that were previously listed, prior to the NBA Facebook page showing no events.

As seen in the photo below, the NBA had already listed the Golden State Warriors going up against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. The match-up games against the Cavs and Warriors were listed as taking place in the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The first game was listed as taking place on Thursday, June 2, at 6 p.m. PDT, which is 9 p.m. ET. The second game was listed as taking place on Sunday, June 5, at 5 p.m. PDT, which is 8 p.m. ET.

As reported by SB Nation, the fact that the NBA would post such information on Facebook isn’t just a place-keeper or wishful thinking by the NBA. Instead, the NBA jumped the gun and proactively declared the Warriors winners prior to Game 7 against the OKC Thunder even happening, and that has caused cries of conspiracy and fraud to pop up online.

The Golden State Warriors are currently tied in the NBA Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both teams have three wins in the series, with Game 6 having wrapped up on Saturday, May 28, at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The final Game 7 where the Warriors go up against the Thunder in the NBA Conference Finals happens on Monday, May 30, at 9 p.m. ET. While that game can be viewed on TNT as the teams play in the Oracle Arena in Oakland, viewers who know about the NBA Facebook page posting likely can’t help but wonder if the fix is indeed in for the game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers won their Eastern NBA Conference Finals against the Toronto Raptors, with the Cavs taking their series by winning four games to the Raptors mere two games. With that series having wrapped up with Game 6 — which was held at the Air Canada Centre on Friday, May 27 — the Cavs have more time to rest and practice before meeting either the OKC Thunder or the Golden State Warriors on June 2.

The Cavs-Raptors series featured highlights that found Drake standing on the sidelines cheering on his Toronto team, and Drake meeting LeBron James behind the scenes to offer congratulatory hugs. However, it is the NBA Facebook page’s presumption that guard Stephen Curry will automatically face LeBron and the Cavs in the NBA Finals that is causing a big reaction on social media.

On their Facebook page, the NBA is already receiving comments from folks who claim the series is rigged.

“NBA explain yourself for scheduling Warriors vs. Cavs on June 2nd when Game 7 is tomorrow vs OKC??? #Rigged

“Cleveland getting that [ring] this year.”

“We’re 1 Warriors win away from the Finals the majority of the fans want-The Lebron/Curry Rematch.”

“So proud of Toronto Raptors, they were incredible during all this season! Just the beginning of something big #LetsGoRaps #WeTheNorth.”

According to the Houston Chronicle, it wasn’t the NBA that jumped the gun, but Ticketmaster should share blame for the mistake, which might not be a mistake after all, but a prophecy. The NBA explained that Ticketmaster is the one who takes care of the NBA’s Facebook page — at least the ticketing part of it — and that’s how the wrong information got posted.
