Woman Shoots At Skunk, Hits Husband Instead

College Station, TX – While attempting to plant a bullet in a skunk, a woman accidentally shot her husband instead. According to The Associated Press, the bullet intended for the smelly animal ricocheted off the deck and hit her spouse, who was inside the house at the time. As a result, the man was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk explained that, while the guy did take a bullet to the abdomen, he is expected to survive the ordeal. Fortunately for the victim, the shot somehow managed to miss all of his vital organs. The skunk, meanwhile, apparently escaped the scuffle without a single scratch.

The Eagle reports that the woman, whose identity has been withheld by police, noticed a skunk in her yard when she exited her garage on Sunday night. Since the woman apparently keeps a firearm on her person at all times — she reportedly has a permit to carry a concealed weapon — the skunk soon found itself staring down the barrel of a .45 Caliber handgun. Although she attempted to end the animal’s life by filling it full of lead, her aim was a little off. As a result, the bullet ricocheted off the deck, blasted through the back door, and struck her husband in the stomach.

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time a skunk has caused a stink this month. According to Yahoo! Sports, the animal made an appearance at a high school football game in Mississippi, causing players and spectators to scramble in panic. Instead of focusing on the game at-hand, people were suddenly extremely interested in keeping themselves stench-free. Thankfully, the entire incident was captured on video and eventually uploaded to YouTube for the entire world to enjoy.

The husband of the skunk-shooting woman, meanwhile, was expected to be released from the hospital on Monday (August 27).
