Katy Perry Confirms 2017 World Tour: Is An Album Behind It?

Katy Perry previously said that she’s currently on an extended break from making music, but it looks like she’s ready to take the stage again. Reports surfaced that the “Dark Horse” singer is ready to tour again in 2017.

The 31-year-old singer confirmed that she’s planning a new tour and album by 2017, according to Digital Spy.

“I’m touring in 2017,” Perry was quoted saying during a conversation with Showbiz 411 when she attended the Cannes Film Festival.

As for her new album, she responded, “I’m working on it.”

Fans have been waiting for the release of Katy’s fourth studio album, which is the follow-up to the release of 2013’s Prism, which topped both the U.S. and the UK music charts. The album gave us hit songs like “Birthday,” “Dark Horse,” “Roar,” and “This Is How We Do.” Both “Roar” and “Dark Horse” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Since ending her music era and Prism World Tour in October 2015, Perry has been mostly making headlines for her on-and-off relationship with John Mayer and new relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. Back in February, Perry explained to The New York Times why she’s currently not in a rush to release her next album.

“I’ve been going at it for eight or nine years in the spotlight, and then before that there’s that decade of hustle that never gets recognized but still shows up in your wrinkles. So right now I’m taking a little time. I don’t want to jump on any trends. I just need to evolve. I do my records in a more traditional way, where the cycle is three years, so that once I start writing them, I know exactly where I’ll be in spring of 2018. That can get a little bit like ‘Ugh.’ I need a little bit more freedom, especially when I’ve been doing it for this long.”

Then in a recent interview with Mashable, it seemed like Katy was on hiatus from making music. She was quoted saying that she thinks the public needs a break from her, similar to what Taylor Swift said in her interview with NME Magazine back in November 2015. Katy also wanted to make it clear that she’s currently ruling Twitter while Taylor is the most-popular celebrity on Instagram.

“I’m still the HBIC of Twitter. I’m not trying to feed the meter so much these days. I did that for so long. I think when I come back and have more to say and want to tell certain stories, I want to be all out. I think it’s time to take a break, there’s a thing called being super overexposed. You want people to miss you.”

Then it was rumored that Katy Perry would drop her new album later this year, according to various sources. Radio and Music reported that Perry will first visit India to promote her new album, which will be released via Capitol Records.

“She loves India and she would like to come to India. She plans to release her next album by 2016, so we hope to bring her to India after that,” Katy’s manager Steven Jensen said about her upcoming album.

So far, the singer has registered a series of songs, and it’s possible that they will be featured on the upcoming album.

Perry has reportedly registered “In Flames,” “Heartache Crusade,” “Crocodile Tears,” “Legacy,” and “She’s So Creepy,” which is said to be about Swift.

Sources also revealed that her 2017 world tour will not include the same stops she visited in Asia for her Prismatic World Tour. The world tour was so successful that it’s grossed well over $200 million.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry has confirmed her relationship with Orlando Bloom with an odd photo on Instagram.
