Josh And Anna Duggar Discuss Their Marriage In Josh Duggar’s First Public Statement Since Rehab

Josh Duggar is speaking out publicly for the first time since leaving a Christian rehabilitation for a pornography addiction and infidelity. Josh’s wife, Anna Duggar, has remained steadfast in her marriage, despite the revelation that her husband was not faithful and failed to honor his pledge as a spouse. However, instead of filing for divorce, Anna turned to her loved ones and noted that she was working to forgive Josh for his behavior and move on with their marriage with healing. Now, for the first time since news of the infidelity broke, Josh and Anna are speaking out about the state of their marriage.

Josh and Anna Duggar made a public statement on the Duggar Family’s official blog discussing their marriage and what the future holds for them as a couple. In the statement, Josh and Anna reveal that they are seeking “professional” marriage and family counseling.

“Since the residential treatment program ended, we have been working with a professional marriage and family counselor to take important steps toward healing.”

The pair note that their marriage has not been easy since Josh admitted to breaking his marriage vows, but say they are working to make their marriage stronger. The post goes on to reveal that trust must be rebuilt indicating that Anna Duggar likely still does not trust Josh with her heart as of yet. It was also pointed out that it will be hard work to create a “healthy relationship.”

“It isn’t easy and some days are very difficult. It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship.”

With the couple acknowledging that there is still work to be done in the trust department, rumors that Anna Duggar is heavily monitoring Josh’s phone usage are running rampant. InTouch Weekly reports that Anna is allowing Josh to use a cell phone again, but with heavy restrictions. The phone does not have access to the internet and cannot receive picture messages.

“It’s not a smartphone. He isn’t allowed to have one of those. He has a little phone with a tiny screen and he can’t send or receive picture messages on it.”

Though the marriage is a work in progress, both Anna and Josh say they are “thankful for God’s forgiveness and grace” while noting the prayers of their fans are greatly appreciated.

“As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children.”

Though this is the first time that Josh Duggar has spoken out since checking himself into residential rehabilitation, Anna Duggar has spoken out about the hurt Josh caused her family in the past. In fact, Josh’s betrayal was featured heavily in the beginning of the Duggars’ new TLC series Jill & Jessa: Counting On.

In an interview for the series, Anna discussed the hurt she felt when learning about Josh’s double life. While noting she was devastated and blind-sided by the news, she continued to support her husband and even visited him multiple times while he was seeking treatment at the Christian-based addiction center.

It wasn’t just Anna speaking out about the devastation Josh caused her family, Josh’s siblings also spoke of the hurt they experienced due to Josh’s “poor choices.”

What do you think about Josh and Anna Duggar’s first joint statement since Josh’s rehab stint? Do you think the family will be able to overcome Josh’s many problems?
