‘Teen Wolf’ Season 6 Will Look Different With Two Major Character Losses

Teen Wolf has been going through some hard times behind the scenes with losses that will greatly affect the story being told on the screen. A delay in production was maintained for as long as possible, during Dylan O’Brien’s recovery from an on-set injury, but, ultimately, Teen Wolf was forced to move forward. It was a difficult choice, but a necessary one, if Teen Wolf was to meet their scheduled premiere date. If the loss of O’Brien wasn’t bad enough, Teen Wolf lost another major player, though, this time, through resignation rather than through accident, and many are wondering if Teen Wolf can march on with the loss of two vital characters.

Teen Wolf Proves The Show Must Go On Without Dylan O’Brien

Early on in the production of season 6 of Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien suffered serious on set injuries and the accident resulted in O’Brien being hospitalized for an undetermined period of time. Initially, producers of Teen Wolf had planned to wait for Dylan to recover before moving forward, but, realizing that the extent of O’Brien’s injuries might limit his availability to return to work, back up plans were set in place.

As time went on and O’Brien still struggled to recover from his injuries, rumors began to circulate that One Direction’s Harry Styles would replace O’Brien as Stiles Stilinski. Those rumors proved to be false and it was later revealed that Styles would not be joining the cast of Teen Wolf at all.

While nothing has been officially confirmed by Teen Wolf producers, it seems highly unlikely that O’Brien, still recovering from his injuries, will heal in time to make a return in season 6 and there’s still talk of recasting the Stiles role. One cast member hinted that Teen Wolf fans shouldn’t expect to see too many familiar faces in the sixth installment of the show and it seems she might be referring, at least in part, to Dylan’s departure.

“New faces, places, emotions, possibilities, confusion, passion, tactics, problem solving, honor, relying on others, loss = #TeenWolfSeason6,” tweeted Melissa Ponzio, who playes Melissa McCall on Teen Wolf.

Another Teen Wolf Loss Will Leave Scott McCall Mourning The Loss Of Yet Another Love Interest

Maybe Tyler Posey is just a bad kisser? How else could one explain Scott McCall losing two leading ladies in just 5 seasons. Crystal Reed, who played Allison Argent and Scott’s love interest on Teen Wolf, was killed off at the end of season 3, leaving room for Arden Cho to join the cast. As Cho’s character, Kira Yukimura, developed, she became an obvious love interest for Teen Wolf‘s Scott McCall. Over time, the chemistry Cho shared with Posey was undeniable and it seemed to Teen Wolf fans that Scott had finally found a love to compete with that Scott had shared with Allison.

Now, Ms. Cho has resigned from her Teen Wolf gig, leaving the producers in a quandary and leaving Scott McCall alone, once more. It seemed Arden had given Teen Wolf producers at least some warning that she would not be returning, because Teen Wolf‘s fifth season finale ended with Kira heading off alone into the desert, where she would presumably be learning to control her kitsune powers from the Skin Walkers.

This recent Teen Wolf loss may mean season 6 will see a love lorn Scott McCall, lost without either his best friend, Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) or his girlfriend Kira (Arden Cho), but will he spend the entire Teen Wolf season pining for lost loves, or will the Tyler Posey character find what he needs in the heart of another?

Maybe Scott will grow closer to Lydia Martin (Holland Roden).

The season premiere of Teen Wolf is set to air on Tuesday, June 28 on MTV.
