Johnny Depp And Amber Heard’s Divorce: Johnny’s Family Hated Amber

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are getting a divorce. The actress filed for divorce days after Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, passed away from an illness.

Now, we’re finding out a reason that might have led to the split. According to TMZ, Johnny Depp’s family did not get along with Amber Heard, in fact they allegedly downright hated her.

It’s said that Depp’s late mother detested Amber Heard, according to sources close to the situation. When Depp decided to move his mother into the house that they shared together, sources said that the tension between the three was “palpable.” According to the source, Betty Sue thought Amber was just using Johnny for his fame and money, and to boost her own career.

It’s said that Heard often treated Johnny “like crap” and constantly “railed against him.”

The rift was apparently so great that Depp only saw his mother once after she moved in, and Amber is to blame for keeping them a part. It’s said that Amber did have two sit-downs with Johnny Depp’s mother, but these meetings didn’t go well, and Betty left both thinking that Amber was a “terrible person.”

On the other side of the story is Amber’s side. TMZ reported another story where they claim that Heard was NOT hated by Johnny Depp’s mother, and she actually made an effort to mend fences in Depp’s mother’s final months. It’s said that while Betty Sue was in and out of the hospital, Heard made attempts to visit her many times, and even took care of her nurses schedules that Johnny had hired at the time.

The sources close to Amber say that while Johnny was absent from his mother’s life in the last year, it was Johnny’s choice and not Amber’s. It’s said that Heard doesn’t believe that Johnny’s family hated her.

That said, Heard isn’t going quietly with this divorce. The actress is currently seeking spousal support from Depp during the time they were married, and she’s likely to get it because they did not have a prenup. As for Depp, it’s said that he has no intention of giving Heard spousal support.

While Johnny hasn’t released a statement on his own, his rep told Us Weekly Magazine of the situation.

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

The pair met on the set of The Rum Diary, and rumors swarmed that the two had undeniable chemistry, despite Depp being in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis for 14 years. After the shooting was done, they went their separate ways, but soon the pair reunited after Depp split from Vanessa. They’ve been together on and off since 2012. The pair became engaged and married in February of 2015 in Los Angeles.

Back in June, she spoke of the marriage.

“Nothing is a dramatic change. We’ve been together for a long time now, so it’s been a fairly organic process. I have a fiercely independent spirit.”

She continued, telling Elle magazine the following.

“The thing that really scares me is the potential of losing my freedom. I never want for my life to lose the ability to transverse the world, with freedom and ease,” she says. “The freedom and ease I have worked so hard to acquire for myself.”
