Bus Collides With Train In Downtown Los Angeles, 48 People Injured


A scary moment in Los Angeles this morning as the Metro Blue line train collided with a public transit bus near downtown Los Angeles. No deaths have been reported, but 48 people were being treated for minor injuries following the collision.

The accident occurred at 7 am when the southbound train was traveling on the 1900 block of San Pedro Street at Washington Boulevard.

The Line 51 bus caused a traffic signal to topple over and left the area with slow traffic as emergency officials worked to examine accident victims and police began to investigate the cause of the accident.

The train did not derail following the accident, but Metro officials announced a 15-minute delay on the Blue Line and Expo Line into the foreseeable future.

Injuries included 40 people on the Line 51 bus and eight people on the Blue Line. Following the accident, officials brought in buses to transport commuters to their final destinations.

The scene of the accident is still being investigated as authorities attempt to determine what caused the accident.
