Courtney Stodden revealed that she’s pregnant a short time ago, and now she’s opening up about battling depression while pregnant. At six weeks pregnant, the reality star told Us Weekly about how difficult being pregnant is when you’re suffering from depression.
“I suffer from depression. My depression affects my appetite, sleeping patterns and overall perspective on life. At times, I have severe insomnia and other times I find myself sleeping too much. I have feelings of hopelessness but experience many moments of absolute euphoria.”
In order to moderate her depression and anxiety, the mom-to-be takes Xanax and also writes to soothe her worries.
“I’m working on a self-help book called Blonde & Blue. It’s an explicit in-depth account of my saddest, darkest moments as well as my highs… My hope is by being painfully honest, my story can inspire others.”
Stodden revealed that she’s expecting her first child with actor and husband Doug Hutchinson weeks ago. Their marriage received massive media attention due to their thirty-four year age gap. When they married in 2011, the Green Mile star was 50 and Stodden was a 16-year-old aspiring music artist. The two went on to get a divorce, but this year, they reconciled and renewed their vows.
After their whirlwind romance, the two made headlines once again when they appeared on Couples Therapy in 2012.
That said, although this is a time to celebrate, it sounds like Stodden has mixed feelings about being pregnant.
“I already love this baby so much. I just fear the thought of motherhood. It’s such an overwhelming responsibility and I want to be the very best mommy that I can possibly be.”
As the Inquisitr reported, although Stodden is pregnant, it doesn’t look like she’s escaped the ongoing drama in her life.
When she first announced that she was expecting, it wasn’t a typical statement. Her statement suggested that more was going on behind the scenes.
“It’s a bittersweet time for me right now. I’m dealing with a lot of stress and emotions surrounding life and its ups and downs. Doug and I weren’t planning on going public with this so soon. I’m only four weeks along in my pregnancy. But some things are out of your control.”
Perhaps it’s the fact that she’s currently estranged from her own mother, as Stodden said that the two are on the outs.
“We’re completely on the outs right now. I hate to say that we’re in a worse place now than we were before we started, but we’re just not in a good place right now… Unfortunately, not much has been healed.”
Back in April, we learned there was a bizarre love triangle going on between Courtney, Doug, and Courtney’s mother, Krista Keller. During a therapy session, Doug confronted Krista.
“Krista was relentless about her feelings for me, how when she was lying next door she was thinking about me. It culminated into an unbelievable confession from Krista saying, ‘When Courtney leaves here, I will be here for you – because I am in love with you.'”
When Krista denied these claims, Doug called her a compulsive liar.
“I have a feeling that every single thing that comes out of your mouth is about denial, lying, and manipulating for your severely narcissistic motives.”
Later on, he was asked if he had an “emotional affair” with Krista. Doug took the time to look at Krista and addressed her while adding, “I never felt that we were friends, obviously we were not lovers, and I think that that’s your delusion. I have never been attracted to you, I am not now and I never will be – sexually, emotionally or otherwise. Ever.”
