Reality Steve Reveals The One Thing That Would Stop His ‘Bachelor’ Spoilers Forever

Reality Steve has posted his episode-by-episode breakdown of the current season of The Bachelorette, including the name of JoJo Fletcher’s final pick and possible future husband. The longtime spoiler king, whose real name is Steve Carbone, makes a full-time living by digging up dirt on the ABC reality franchise and spoiling it online, usually ahead of the premiere each season. But in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Reality Steve said he would stop spoiling The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for good if producers would just show him the money.

“Everyone’s got a price,” Reality Steve said.

While he didn’t name his price, Steve has already gone on record as saying he makes a “comfortable” six-figure income from his Reality Steve website. The smart money would bet Reality Steve would want a comfortable seven-figure sum to shut down his spoiler business, but he knows producers would never pay him off.

“It would be admitting that they were defeated and they can’t control a one-man operation out of Dallas,” Steve told THR.

Besides, earlier this year, Reality Steve told the New York Times that the spoilers don’t even draw the bulk of the visitors to his site. Web traffic to Reality Steve is estimated to be 80 percent lower during the months that Steve spoils The Bachelor’s production by mapping out the season for fans before the show airs. Reality Steve’s big traffic arrives while the season is actually on TV and people check the website for his cheeky recaps.

Reality Steve has been sued by The Bachelor producers twice in the past. In 2011, he was busted for contacting eliminated cast members and offering them up to $2,500 for spoiler information all the while assuring them that no one would have to know he approached them. Then, Steve was sued the following year for spoiling the next season, but both lawsuits were settled. As part of his first settlement, Reality Steve cannot contact cast or crew members under contract to the show for at least five years. But Steve doesn’t need them anyway because the spoilers come to him every season via unsolicited phone and email tips.

Reality Steve says current contestants are now “way too scared” to talk to him these days because they’ll be hit with a $5 million penalty from producers if they get caught spilling secrets. But even if past contestants came to him with info, Steve wouldn’t bite.

“I don’t even want to go that route,” Reality Steve said. “I’m walking on thin ice if I do and there’s no need to.”

Even though NZK Productions and Alternative Television, Inc. slammed Reality Steve with a $75,000 lawsuit in 2011 for soliciting information from cast and crew members by “inducing them to breach their confidentiality obligations,” Bachelor executive producer Mike Fleiss told Entertainment Weekly that Reality Steve was really small potatoes.

“He’s nuts, a goofball,” Fleiss said. “He says these things with 100 percent conviction but he’s right only half of the time. It doesn’t matter that much to us, it’s just that he acts like he knows everything. He’s the Michele Bachmann of reality TV facts. But the leaks are not really coming from production. They’re coming from former cast members. That’s a hard thing to police. The best way to combat him is to let himself shoot himself in the foot.”
