John Mayer Ditches Long Locks After Katy Perry Split

John Mayer pulled a Miley Cyrus on Saturday, debuting a short new hairstyle as he met up with Mindy Kaling at the SkyBar to celebrate her new show, The Mindy Project, following his split with Katy Perry.

Mayer, 34, is known for sporting long, shoulder-length hair, but it seems that his split with Katy Perry has prompted the singer to make a drastic change, reports PEOPLE.

The Grammy winner got his hair cut at the Sally Hershberger salon in LA on Friday by Sally herself and then drove off in his Range Rover after checking out his new hairdo in the SUV’s side-view mirror.Zimbio’s Deena Bustillo writes of John Mayer’s new hairdo, as well as his split from Katy Perry, saying that:

“Perry seems to have a thing for guys with longer hair than her, so is this the ultimate “We’re really over” statement? OR did he chop off his hair before the split and then she decided they had no future together? Hmm.”

Of course, Mayer’s not the first singer to drastically cut their long hair as Miley Cyrus debuted a new pixie style cut a couple of weeks ago after years of long hair famously worn in a messy bun on top of her head.

Mayer was last spotted with short hair in 2010 before his almost two year long hiatus from the music world. Neither the Mayer or Perry camps have issued a statement about the couple’s relationship, either when it began or when it ended, although a source close to the “Part Of Me” singer has said that Katy Perry is sad about the relationship’s end.
