Megyn Kelly Talks About Donald Trump’s Veteran Charity Controversy

Megyn Kelly has proven she will still be as objective as possible when it comes to Donald Trump despite recently becoming friends with him. She started off her show Tuesday evening in an angry tone.

“It all started four months ago when Trump boycotted the Fox News GOP debate in Iowa. Instead, he held a fundraiser, he said, to benefit U.S. veterans. Now, the story is back in the headlines as the veteran community and the media presses the Trump campaign to prove that the money was raised and went to charity.”

Megyn Kelly noted that there was a huge protest in front of the Trump Towers in New York City. However, many of the people protesting were Hillary Clinton supporters doing it for political reasons, not ethical ones. Then, Fox News correspondent Trace Gallagher talked about the Trump controversy.

“Just today, Donald Trump said on social media that the event back in January raised almost $6 million for military vets. Then also today, Trump turned around and told the Washington Post that he never said he promised he’d raise $6 million.”

A video then showed Trump, from January, saying directly that he had just raised $6 million. Gallagher added that Trump chastised the mainstream media for giving him nothing but bad publicity despite raising money for veterans. He noted that Trump’s own people told CNN that the event raised four or five million dollars.

Meghan had an Iraq War veteran speak out against Trump. Sgt. Robert Bartlett said that if somebody says they are supporting veterans, they have to go all the way through it. He said he is willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt. However, sources like the Huffington Post are pretty much already convicting Trump.

“In response [to controversy], Trump basically lies himself silly. Perhaps the best part of this interview is when Trump says he is ‘honored by’ the fact that he allegedly gave away money to veterans. Pro-tip: When you donate money, you are ‘honoring’ the recipients. You are supposed to be humbled at the opportunity to donate.”

Kelly noted that Trump recently released a new political ad that bashes the Clintons to take away some of the attention from the veterans controversy. The ad shows a picture of Bill Clinton with a cigar, while a woman cries while complaining she was sexually assaulted by Clinton. Megyn Kelly reminded viewers, by a video, that Trump didn’t exactly praise the group of women who tried to go after Bill Clinton back in 1998. In fact, Trump actually referred to them as “unattractive.” She then turned the show over to Carl Cameron, another political correspondent, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“Trump makes all this a counterpunch. He casts his criticism of Bill and Hillary Clinton, and particularly Bill Clinton’s relationships with women over the course of his presidency, as his measure of backing down Hillary Clinton when she accuses Donald Trump of being a sexist or a misogynist,” Cameron says, noting that things are bound to get a lot worse.

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume then appeared to talk about the sexual assault allegations against Bill Clinton. He noted that Juanita Broderick’s charges back in the 1990s were specific and many found them likely true. He noted that NBC buried the report and Megyn Kelly suggested that it was because Clinton was running for re-election.

What do you think of both the attacks on Donald Trump and Bill Clinton? Is there any meat to these attacks, or are they purely political? Let us know in the comments section.
