‘Outlander’ Spoilers: What To Expect In Season 2, Episode 8 ‘The Fox’s Lair’

Outlander fans are still reeling from Season 2, Episode 7, titled “Faith,” which is now being regarded as one of the best, most shocking episodes in the series. Viewers now can’t wait to find out what will happen in Episode 8, “The Fox’s Lair,” when it airs on Sunday.

The official synopsis for Outlander Season 2, Episode 8 reads, “Claire and Jamie return to Scotland, and back to their home, Lallybroch. Away from the nightmares of Paris, they find solace until a letter arrives. Jamie must go and visit his grandfather Lord Lovat, Simon Fraser aka The Old Fox. Claire accompanies Jamie to meet The Old Fox.”

According to Movie News Guide, it looks like viewers will get to learn a bit more about Jamie Fraser’s family tree, and meet some more of his family members. In addition, Jamie’s sister, Jenny, and her family will also be shown for the first time in Season 2.

Outlander fans know that Jamie and Claire have given up their Paris dreams, but not on their plan of becoming close to Prince Charles and stopping the Jacobite rebellion. The couple are both hurting and need to return to Scotland, where they fell in love, to re-spark their marriage after the events of “Faith.”

As viewers know, Faith was the name of Jamie and Claire’s daughter, who was stillborn in the previous episode. Claire gave birth and said goodbye to her daughter all alone after Jamie was thrown in prison for dueling Black Jack Randall. Of course, Jamie had a good reason for the fight, as he caught Randall raping his young ward, Fergus, at Maison Elise.

In addition, Claire bargained with the king to have Jamie released from prison, as well as be able to return home to Scotland a free man, but Claire was forced to pay the price by giving herself to the king, an infidelity which Jamie immediately forgave his wife for.

Outlander is becoming known as one of the most raw and powerful shows on television. The series is not afraid to take risks with touchy subjects such as death, rape, and sex, and fans seem to appreciate the honesty of the storylines, although it can sometimes be hard to watch.

An old face will also return during Outlander Season 2, Episode 8. Colum MacKenzie will be visiting the area and will come face to face with his nephew Jamie and his wife, Claire. A description for the encounter states,

“Claire and Jamie call upon Jamie’s grandsire, Lord Lovat, in an attempt to elicit support for the Jacobite cause. However, a visiting Colum MacKenzie has other plans, and Lord Lovat’s manipulative machinations ensure that no matter what, his own interests will be served.”

In the trailer for the episode, Jamie’s sister, Jenny, is seen revealing that she thinks it is a very dangerous and stupid move to go to Lord Lovat for any kind of help. In the end, it looks like Jamie could lose his precious home, Lallybroch, or something much worse in exchange for help with the Jacobite cause.

Meanwhile, Outlander fans will also see Claire continue to channel La Dame Blanche, and she’ll even meet a “seer,” a woman who claims to see the future. This should prove very interesting for Claire, who is from 200 years in the future. Perhaps, Claire will be able to prove her visions to be true with the knowledge she’s acquired in her lifetime. If so, can this woman be of any use to Jamie and Claire in their pursuit to stop the Battle of Culloden? All will be revealed Saturday night at 9 p.m. on Starz.
