‘WWE NXT’ Spoiler-Free Preview: May 25 — Major ‘TakeOver: The End’ Announcements

There are only two episodes of WWE NXT left before their next special, NXT TakeOver: The End, on June 8. Going into this week’s show, the NXT Universe already knows that Samoa Joe will defend the NXT Championship against Finn Balor in NXT’s first-ever Steel Cage Match. The only other match already booked is the NXT Tag Team Championship Match in which American Alpha defend the titles against The Revival.

This week’s episode of WWE NXT will continue the build to The End, including developments around the NXT Women’s Championship and a high-profile undercard match. The only information provided by WWE for this week’s episode is that Austin Aries will be in attendance.

WWE continues to make the odd decision to only promote one match or story each week at their official NXT preview. But the entire spectrum of NXT competition is represented this week, including the women’s division and tag team division, along with singles competition for the men.

Note: The updated NXT TakeOver: The End card at the end of the article reveals spoilers for this week’s episode of WWE NXT. While the following matches haven’t been listed at WWE’s website, they have been reported in a spoiler report at Wrestling Inc., which also contains the spoilers for the June 1 episode of NXT.

Spoiler-free match list — May 25

The matches for this week’s episode of WWE NXT were taped at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, May 19.

  • William Regal will make a major announcement for NXT TakeOver: The End regarding Bayley’s status. As you may recall, the former NXT Women’s Champion had to be helped to the back after taking a beating in her match with Nia Jax on last week’s episode of NXT.
  • Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Shane Thorne and Nick Miller — Thorne and Miller are making their NXT television debut, known collectively as TM-61.
  • Austin Aries has an in-ring promo and is joined in the ring by Shinsuke Nakamura. Both men want to rise to the top of the increasingly competitive NXT roster for their chance at the NXT Championship.
  • No Way Jose vs. Johnny Vandal — Jose seems to be over with the NXT Universe at Full Sail University, so they are just moving forward at full speed. To be fair, most of Jose’s competition so far has been against enchancement talent like Johnny Vandal. Could he possibly get a match against a quality opponent at TakeOver: The End?
  • Carmella vs. Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss — With Asuka still the reigning NXT Women’s Champion, this Triple Threat Match will help one of these women from the NXT Roster to stand apart from the rest.
