Blake Shelton Explains How Gwen Stefani Duet Shows Love: Duo Shares Hottest PDA Photos Amid Engagement Rumors
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani initially tried to hide their blossoming romance when they shifted from pals to passion on The Voice. But ever since they went public, they’ve shared increasingly hot photos of their affection on social media. Now, the lovebirds have taken those PDA pictures to the next level by following up their duet of “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” at the Billboard Music Awards with intensely romantic selfies, pointed out Refinery29.
The new queen of sexy selfies has been proudly sharing the journey of their romance on social media, and the pictures have become hotter as their love has progressed.
And while the duet inspired his girlfriend to share their PDA, Blake found himself on the defense during a Today show interview when Hoda and Kathie Lee informed the country music superstar that they were confused by the title and lyrics of “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.”
The lovebirds debuted their track on The Voice, and Hoda explained that she and Kathie Lee were puzzled by what they saw as the contradictions in the lyrics.
Rather than contradictory, however, the lyrics are romantic because they show that the two are so in love that they’re willing to go through the inevitable ups and downs of their relationship, explained the 39-year-old.
“It was hard to kind of let our guards down again, you know what I mean?” confessed Shelton. “Just going through some issues, and so that’s what the song was even written about. It’s like, I know something bad is going to happen, because it always does, so let’s just get it over with now.”
Kathie Lee probed to learn more about how he had decided that even though he had been hurt before during his split from Miranda Lambert, he loved Gwen so much that he was willing to risk his heart again.
Her response came in the “look on our faces” rather than words, responded Shelton.
“I think you can see the look on our faces there. It’s like, at some point you’re, like… ‘It just is what it is now, so let’s go for it.’ “
Although he was willing to explore the significance of his duet with Kathie Lee and Hoda, he also had another confession when he was talking with Savannah Guthrie of Today. The spotlight on his relationship with Stefani has felt “weird.”
But it hasn’t been so “weird” that he’s avoided joining her in posing for selfies that showcase their love.
In addition, the country music crooner noted that their love shows the truth of the expression that “opposites attract,” pointing out that they are very different in their preferences.
“We could not be, on paper, any more different. I mean, I’m a country singer and she’s a ska, rock, pop, whatever it is… and it’s just an odd idea. But man, it’s a lot of fun. I’ve gotta be honest about that.”
And while he’s honest about that, the two are more coy when it comes to the constant question of whether they’re already engaged, and if not when. A photo of Stefani wearing a diamond ring caused even more speculation.
“Blake could propose to Gwen very soon,” a source told Us Weekly.
Describing her as “everything he wants,” the source also shared how the 46-year-old singer’s children feel about the man she could marry soon. Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2 (their father is her former husband Gavin Rossdale) are delighted.
“Her kids love him as much as she does,” added the insider.
