Alicia Keys Releases ‘In Common’ Black And White Video

Alicia Keys is here to tell everybody to celebrate their individuality with her latest single, “In Common.” The singer released the video to accompany the Afrobeat and Latin-infused track as she returns to the music world.

“In Common” is the newest music Keys has released since her last album Girl on Fire debuted back in 2012. Keys recently sang that song and another new track called “Hallelujah” during her musical appearance on Saturday Night Live on May 7.

Keys’ music video for her latest song is in black and white, and the singer keeps it pretty simple. The Grammy-winning artist is fresh-faced with her curly hair up and wears dark clothing. Keys hangs around a fire escape that is similar to a New York City apartment building while she dances and sings.

Keys isn’t alone, as various dancers of age and race appear in the video dancing to the beat as “In Common” plays. The video is reminiscent to a street party that is popular in many NYC neighborhoods, with people having a grand old time as they come together and enjoy good music.

The Illangelo-produced single is the first track off Alicia Keys’ upcoming sixth album, which does not have an official title yet but will be released later this summer. Keys describes the music video as a way for people to embrace and celebrate their unique abilities, warts and all, while staying true to themselves, as reported by Billboard.

“We want the same things. We all want to experience love, the freedom to be our truest selves, to love whomever we want and to be accepted and celebrated for all of our nuances and so called imperfections that make us, us.”

The UEFA Champions League announced earlier this month that Keys will perform at their Final Opening Ceremony on May 28 in Madrid, Spain. The singer is the first ever musical headliner at the highly-watched sporting event.

Keys appears in a short video to promote the Pepsi-sponsored event. The singer will appear in the three-part video series, where she compares athletes and musicians on where they stand with their passions.

To me, passion is love plus desire. We have to be making something, we have to be working towards something, we have to be dreaming about something, we have to believing in something no matter who we are.”

Alicia Keys is scheduled to perform “In Common” and other new tracks at the sports ceremony.

In other recent news, Alicia Keys will replace Pharell as the new coach for NBC’s The Voice, which was announced back in March 25. Keys and Miley Cyrus will start their new roles for the show’s 11th season. Keys appeared on the hit show on May 16 to perform “In Common.”

Keys seemed to be an easy choice to help coach new singers and bring out the best in their performances. The show’s executives explained that they specifically searched for female judges to keep it even next season with male judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, whereas in Season 10, Christina Aguilera was the only main female judge.

It seems that Keys is ready to go full steam ahead as she returns to releasing new music and performing after taking a slight breather for the past few years. In December, 2014, she gave birth to her second son with husband of nearly six years, music producer Swizz Beatz.

Keys only did one live performance in 2015, when she sang alongside The Weeknd at the BET Awards 2015. Keys also put her acting skills to use as she appeared in the second season of Empire, playing Skye Summers. Her husband also did a guest appearance on the hit show, although he played himself.
