Taylor Swift Ditches Billboard Music Awards To Take Care Of Calvin Harris [Report]

Taylor Swift was notably absent from the 2016 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 22, despite eight nominations, but Swift reportedly had a pretty good reason to be MIA.

Instead of rubbing shoulders with her fellow music A-Listers like Britney Spears, Celine Dion, and The Weeknd at the big show, Taylor allegedly skipped out on the awards to spend her Sunday night taking care of boyfriend Calvin Harris following his scary car accident on May 20.

Harris was caught up in a collision that TMZ reported last week left him with “a laceration on his face” that was so serious he was allegedly taken away from the incident in an ambulance to a California hospital.

Calvin’s team confirmed that Harris would be cancelling his upcoming Las Vegas DJ gigs as a result of the incident on Facebook in the early hours of May 21, and revealed that Harris had been “examined by doctors and told to rest for a few days.”

TMZ also alleged that Swift’s boyfriend actually left the hospital against the advice of doctors shortly after arriving after being told that there were no private rooms available, which is likely where Taylor Swift stepped in.

According to an insider who spoke to Hollywood Life, rather than walking the Las Vegas red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards, Taylor has taken the doctor’s orders to heart and has been doing all she can to nurse Harris back to health.

A Taylor insider claimed that Swift “has told Calvin that she doesn’t want him doing anything for the next few days” and has reportedly been “waiting on him hand and foot” as he recovers.

“Taylor will be catering to him for everything he needs, even if that includes driving him around or making him a cup of tea,” the site’s Taylor insider claimed, adding that Swift “will make sure that he puts his feet up and doesn’t lift a finger until he’s better.”

The Swift insider also revealed that Taylor is watching over her boyfriend to make sure he takes some time out to recuperate following the scary road accident.

“She wants Calvin to make sure he really does take the time off needed to recover from the car crash because he’s always running at a hundred miles an hour and doesn’t know when to stop,” the Taylor source added.

Despite skipping out on the big music award show, Taylor actually won a Billboard Music Award for Top Touring Artist at the May 22 award show while she was also nominated for a slew of other awards, including the prestigious Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for 1989, Top Hot 100 Artist and Top Female Artist.

Taylor Swift has so far stayed mum regarding Calvin’s accident and her big Billboard win on social media, though reports that Taylor is busy looking after Calvin come just days after Hollywood Life claimed that Swift was “very scared” when she heard Harris had been injured following the May 20 accident.

“Taylor was very scared when she got a call from Calvin saying he had been in a terrible accident,” an insider told Hollywood Life earlier this week of Taylor’s response to the shocking news. “Her first reaction was to ask if he needed her to be with him, but Calvin told her everything was okay and he was just a little shaken up.”

“He broke the news to her quite gently because he didn’t want Taylor fretting too much,” the insider continued, “she’s a natural worrier and often fears the worst. However, everything was okay in the end and she can be relieved that he came out of the accident relatively unharmed, but for a few cuts.”
