2016 Billboard Music Awards: The Best — And Worst — Red Carpet Looks From The BBMAs

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards took over Las Vegas on May 22 and the biggest stars in music certainly didn’t disappoint when it came to bringing some pretty outrageous looks to the pink carpet, where black was definitely the color of the night.

Here’s all the very best (and worst!) pink carpet fashion looks from Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, and many more.

Rihanna made a serious fashion statement with her Billboard Music Awards look, opting for a brown jacket-turned dress with what appeared to be pointed toe kitten heels. Rihanna also showed off her new hair at the music show, revealing her super short black locks.

Britney Spears, who opened the 2016 Billboard Music Awards with a medley of hits, showed some serious skin in her leg-baring black bodysuit with a long train. Spears strutted her stuff at the Billboard awards in a rare pink carpet appearance in knee-high cut out heels, but luckily didn’t have to walk too far from her current home at Las Vegas’s Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, which was just a little further down the Vegas strip.

Kesha

After days of speculation as to whether or not Kesha would be allowed to perform at the Billboard Music Awards, Kesha finally got the go-ahead and made a serious statement on the magenta carpet. Appearing to channel her inner matador with her purple pant suit, Kesha brought a little color to the sea of black that walked the Billboard pink carpet.

Fifth Harmony

The ladies of Fifth Harmony, who performed their hit “Work” at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, seriously coordinated with their gorgeous and sophisticated all-black looks.

Normani stunned on the pink carpet in a strapless black satin gown with a thigh-high slit, Lauren kept things slinky in a floor-length satin and lace gown, Ally strutted her stuff in her plunging black gown with a lace mermaid style bottom, Dinah-Jane changed-up her look with white and gold embellishments and Camila brought a little bling to her long black backless dress with a gold collar.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande gave the black theme a twist with her stunning Billboard look. Grande didn’t stray from her signature ponytail hairstyle at the event, but changed things up a little with her unique cutout floor-length blue and black ensemble.

Meghan Trainor kept things a little more covered up at the music award show, taking to the pink carpet in what’s quickly becoming her signature look, a sequin long-sleeve dress. For the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, Meghan opted for almost head-to-toe dark multi-colored sequins as she shimmered her way into the venue to perform and rocked some seriously dramatic shoulder pads.

Speaking out about her look on E!’s Live From The Red Carpet, Trainor joked that her dress made her feel like “a sparkly mermaid.”

Jessica Alba in Zuhair Murad

Taking to the Billboard Music Awards pink carpet to promote their new movie, Bad Moms, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn stunned in some high-fashion looks. Kristen opted for a navy jumpsuit to attend the award show with her co-stars, while Mila Kunis stunned in a strapless sparkly mini-dress.

Demi Lovato brought a little edge to the Billboard Music Awards, with just lace covering her torso in this rock inspired ensemble. Lovato opted to ditch the dresses for her pink carpet appearance, instead wearing black wide-leg trousers and keeping things a little more covered on top with a black and electric blue cropped blazer and leather gloves on both hands.

Ciara in Philip Plein

Ciara, who hosted the 2016 Billboard Music Awards alongside Ludacris, appeared to risk a wardrobe malfunction in her floor-length silver sequin gown. Ciara’s stunning metallic dress featured some pretty serious side cut outs and a thigh-high slit that made the pop star one to watch at the Billboard awards.

Keke Palmer
