Mural Of The Bible – Jerusalem ‘Wall Of Life’ Takes Up Space Longer Than A Football Field

Artist Patricia Solveson recently completed a mural that took several years to complete – a mural called the “Wall of Life” in a cemetery in Jerusalem. In a CBN News article, the Jerusalem Wall of Life mural of the Bible was recently unveiled and the mural is “longer than a football field.” The massive mural includes Bible scenes from Genesis to Revelation and took Solveson six years to finish. She calls the mural her life’s work, and it includes scenes such as the parting of the Red Sea, Jesus’ teachings and miracles, and the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, as well as scenes that go all the way through Revelation.

Solveson told CBN that she was “probably more changed by painting this mural than anything else.” “I was very relieved, very relieved. But I felt His heart. I felt the Lord’s heart of joy because He knows this is His place and His message can come forth.”

“In a place where the Good News has been quenched, very seriously quenched, here are the walls shouting out His name.”

Solveson said that creating the mural wasn’t easy and it was very overwhelming to her. She said that people would come in and be touched by what they saw and that spurred her on. Solveson completed the mural for the Alliance Church in the Holy Land, which held a dedication service for the mural.

“I think the mural is just a beautiful representation of our faith, or our hope, of the story,” said Marshall Mullinax, who is the field director of the Christian Alliance Center.

As for some people who might think it strange that the mural is in a cemetery, Mullinax doesn’t think it strange at all.

“Perhaps one of the least expected evangelistic platforms in the world, a cemetery. But we’re one of the few groups of people that actually don’t find cemeteries disturbing because our hope, our lives, our story doesn’t end with the grave.”

Solveson calls her artistic style of the mural as “impressionistic realism,” and her favorite scene is the Resurrection. In addition to being inspired by the Bible, Solveson told CBN that she also found inspiration from her own transformed life. “Inspiration is a four letter word, L-O-V-E,” Solveson explained.

“Really because of the Lord who did for me what I could not do for myself – – He took me out of this pit. He put a song in my mouth, a paintbrush in my hand and He said, ‘You’re going to live.'”

The website dedicated to the mural of the Bible features a gallery of photos of the mural and details the life of Solveson and her mission to complete the mural. The Alliance Church and cemetery is now an official Ministry of Tourism site in Jerusalem. Rev. Jack Sara, vice president of Bethlehem Bible College and pastor of the Alliance church, said that it was “great to have this place dedicated.”

Roger Elbel, the former director of the Alliance Church, spoke about the heritage of the church and cemetery in the above video.

“Believers, by the score, are buried here, that have contributed to the creation and development of the state of Israel, and sacrificed in so many ways and lived life sacrificially for the Lord Jesus Christ.”

The website says that Elbel was the one who envisioned a mural lining the inner walls of the cemetery to “comfort and encourage those who had loved ones buried there as well as those who come in to visit.”
