‘Chewbacca Mask Mom’ Gets 3 More Chewbacca Masks From Kohl’s — Plus $2,500 [Video]

The viral video seen below from the Facebook page of Candace Payne — better known as the “Chewbacca Mask Mom” — has set off a firestorm of joy over a simple toy. Candace went live on Facebook, excited to share with her Facebook followers the small birthday present she bought herself. With more than 118 million views and nearly three million Facebook shares, Payne’s video came with a description that proved little things in life could bring so much joy and laughter.

“It’s the simple joys in life…”

Payne described how she went to Kohl’s to return items that didn’t fit because they were too big. In their place, Payne found the Chewbacca mask that became worth its weight in gold. Candace had a joy that was infectious as she wrestled her Chewbacca mask out of the box, emblazoned with Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the side. Payne cautioned her Facebook viewers to be patient as she put on the Chewbacca mask and broke into big fits of laughter as the mask made the distinctive Chewbacca noise every time she opened her mouth.

“That’s not me making that noise, it’s the mask! I’m such a happy Chewbacca! This was worth every penny! I kind of want to drive around like this. That is the best birthday present ever to myself.”

Payne’s Chewbacca mask and joyful video have garnered Candace more Chewbacca masks for herself and her children. Not an easy feat, seeing as though the Chewbacca mask that Candace enjoyed is now sold out on Kohl’s website.

“We’re very sorry, this item Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens Chewbacca Electronic Mask by Hasbro is out of stock.”

However, the attention that Candace brought to the Chewbacca masks caused her to get a visit from Kohl’s, in a new video on Facebook, titled “The happiest Chewbacca.”

The new video posted on Kohl’s Facebook page talks about the craziness. A Kohl’s representative showed up at Candace’s house, as she came outside with her children, laughing her signature laugh. Not wanting Candace to have any stress about having to share her Chewbacca mask, Kohl’s brought Candace three more Chewbacca masks, along with lot of goodies for the kids.

Candace noted that it was like Christmas when Kohl’s blessed her and her family with a bevy of presents, including a Chewbacca mask for the unseen father.

“Do you think dad wants one?”

After agreeing that it had been a crazy period of time after the Chewbacca mask video went viral, Candace was pleased to receive $2,500 in Kohl’s gift cards. Kohl’s also issued 10,000 reward points to Candace that she will receive in July to be used in August.

On the Kohl’s Facebook page, the new video explained why they decided to give Candace more Chewbacca masks. Her children were featured in the video, and hilariously showed their appreciation for the additional Chewbacca masks.

With more than 14 million views, the new Chewbacca mask video is also going viral. As reported by Today, the Chewbacca mask from Kohl’s was originally priced at $44.99 — but went on sale for $17.99 prior to the Chewbacca masks selling out.

Candace, meanwhile, explained how happy she was to have created a simple video that made so many people laugh.

“I feel like I really helped people, and that’s all that matters. People reach out to me, and they say, you know, ‘I battle depression,’ or, ‘I haven’t laughed out loud since such-and-such event.’ And that’s been so great. I’ve only been seeing positive feedback.”
