Missy Bevers Update: Police Reveal ‘Vehicle Of Interest,’ Last Lead In Texas Church Slaying

Texas police say they are looking for a “vehicle of interest” regarding the Missy Bevers murder case. The 45-year-old fitness instructor was found slain inside of the Creekside Church of Christ in April. Police initially released video footage of the alleged killer walking through the church disguised in police gear. With the person’s face obscured and no further leads, police say they are hoping someone can provide information on a Nissan Altima that was seen in a parking lot near the church shortly before the murder.

The Daily Mail reports that police are investigating their “final lead” regarding the shocking death of fitness instructor Missy Bevers. The woman was at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas, setting up for a fitness class in the early morning hours of April 18, 2006, when the horrific murder took place. Bevers was found with wounds to her head following an attack.

In the surveillance video released by the police, the murder suspect can be seen wandering the halls of the church in the minutes before Missy Bevers entered the building to prepare for her fitness class. The individual was wearing heavy police gear including a jacket, shin guards, helmet, and gloves while brandishing a variety of weapons including a hammer. The person in the police gear is seen opening doors and breaking a few windows before eventually making a way to Missy’s classroom where the woman would be murdered.

Police say they are unable to determine if the suspect is male or female based on the video and have not been able to pinpoint the exact height of the alleged murderer. They believe the suspect is between 5’2″ and 5’7″ tall with lighter skin. With few leads in the case, the police are asking the public for help in identifying a “vehicle of interest” in the case.

The vehicle is a silver or light-colored 2010-2012 Nissan Altima. The vehicle was seen at around 2:00 a.m., just hours before the Missy Bevers murder, near the church at a SWFA Sporting Goods store. The store was closed during this hour but the Nissan pulled into the parking lot and remained for a few minutes before driving away. The store is located a short distance from the church where Bevers was murdered.

The police are adamant that the vehicle is “not a suspect vehicle” but that it was seen nearby, so they would like to speak to the person driving the vehicle that night as they may have witnessed something meaningful in the area.

The police have also revealed a $10,000 reward for anyone with information about Missy Bevers’ death that leads to an arrest. Assistant Chief Kevin Johnson notes that the Nissan Altima is the “last lead” the police has on the case and that they need the public’s help in finding Missy’s killer.

“The last remaining lead involves a car that pulls into the SWFA Sporting Goods parking lot at approximately 2am.”

It was also revealed that the family and co-workers of Missy Bevers are not considered suspects at this time. The leads police were previously working on included information that Missy was having marital and financial problems before her death. It was reported that infidelity was likely for both Missy and her husband and that she had received “strange messages” from a person she did not know on LinkedIn just prior to her murder.
