But Borussia Dortmund will be formidable opposition for the Bavarians, having had a wonderful season of their own in the Bundesliga finishing second behind Bayern Munich. Pep Guardiola admitted that his team will have its work cut out against what he termed “the best Borussia Dortmund team in history,” but said he expects his team to win the game.
He also paid tribute to his three years in charge at Bayern Munich.
“After winning the treble under Jupp Heynckes, it’s incredible that they have managed to continue playing like that for three years.”
“I am so proud of the consistency of my players.”
Holger Badstuber and Arjen Robben will both the miss the game because of injuries, but Javi Martinez and Xabi Alonso are expected to start against Dortmund having recovered from minor injuries of their own. Former Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze has been ruled out of the game against his former team because of a broken rib, reports BBC.

Borussia Dortmund are no pushovers when it comes to the DFB Pokal, having reached the final for three years in a row. They have also won the trophy three times in their history, with the latest of those wins coming against Bayern Munich in 2012.

The match promises to be an especially emotional affair for Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels, who has signed a contract that will see him make the summer move to rivals Bayern Munich.
Dortmund will be without defensive midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who is recovering from a dislocated knee and is expected to follow Pep Guardiola to Manchester City during the summer, but winger Marco Reus should recover in time from a cold for the game against Bayern Munich.
