Sonja Morgan On Tipsy Girl Drama With Bethenny Frankel: ‘I Got Dragged Into A Story’

Sonja Morgan was convinced that Bethenny Frankel would be very supportive in her Tipsy Girl venture. She was convinced that Bethenny would want to taste her Prosecco and give her advice on how to market this business. But Frankel was shocked to learn that Morgan would actually pursue a cheater brand. The two had a confrontation on The Real Housewives of New York, and Bethenny told Morgan that she wanted nothing to do with her.

According to a new Bravo report, Sonja Morgan is now revealing how she feels about the confrontation. As she explained on The Real Housewives of New York, she would never start a brand that would compete with Frankel’s Skinnygirl. As Sonja explained, Bethenny is on a totally different level, and she just wants a little bit of cash to help her pay the bills. The dedication is clearly on a different level.

“Bethenny’s name is always enticing in the press, and I got dragged into a story because of the two brands having the word “girl” and being alcohol and some gossipy people stirring the pot. That’s why all the girls are buzzing about Tipsy vs Skinny, because there is always buzz around Bethenny,” Sonja Morgan reveals about her business ventures, sharing that anything she does within the booze industry would probably catch the eye of Frankel.

Plus, Sonja Morgan learned that her co-star would probably sue her if she started crossing some lines. Even though Morgan has one of the trademarks, Frankel did ensure that she wouldn’t get screwed over with the business name Tipsygirl. But Sonja never wanted to pursue a business that would be on the same level as Skinnygirl.

“I would be a crazy person to go up against Bethenny. And everyone can see how the girls suck up to Bethenny. I don’t suck up to her, and I’ve always had a nice relationship based on feelings. Our relationship is not based on using each other to get ahead socially or in business. I don’t text her back and forth on those subjects,” Sonja Morgan explains, sharing that she isn’t scared of Frankel but doesn’t want to step on anyone’s toes.

And while Morgan was disappointed and sad that Frankel didn’t want anything to do with her, she was surprised to learn that some of her co-stars were talking about it behind her back. She was shocked to hear Ramona Singer and Dorinda Medley talk about her plans to launch Tipsy Girl, especially since they are still talking about their issues with John and their friendship. And she’s really bothered about how the ladies are constantly questioning her business ventures.

“My businesses are mine, and I pay my bills just fine. I’ll leave it at that. I have grown so much and through so much. So to say I’m not growing sounds ridiculous. I’ve had a hell of a learning curve,” Sonja Morgan points out, adding, “Bethenny knows how hard it is and how long it takes to build a lifestyle business from the ground up. I can see this is not about business. This is about Bethenny taking this personally. She is very upset. And it’s personal.”

Of course, Frankel did question Sonja Morgan’s business ventures, since she has a long list of business ideas. In her previous blog, she did list all of the businesses that Morgan has talked about on the show, including the Nigeria football team, her jewelry line, and her toaster.

What do you think of Sonja Morgan’s perceptions of the Tipsy Girl scandal? Do you think it’s fair for her to say that she was dragged into the tabloid story about her copying the Skinnygirl business?
