Dax Shepard Got A Vasectomy And Kristen Bell Wasn’t Happy About It

Dax Shepard is known for being candid about his life with wife Kristen Bell. After all, the couple are in those adorable adverts for Samsung Galaxy, so it’s not a surprise that the couple would be so open about their lives together.

That said, recently, Shepard released a bombshell about their future, which happened from a decision that Bell wasn’t exactly thrilled about. The couple have two daughters together, Lincoln Bell Shepard, 3, and Delta Bell Shepard, 17 months, but according to Dax, two daughters were enough for him.

The actor revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he decided to have a vasectomy and that he and Kristen won’t be having any more children. “No. Last year when my wife was working in Atlanta, we were there, and all of a sudden she goes, “Oh my Gosh, I’m so stupid, I’ve been sick for 10 days, and ignoring it. I’m definitely pregnant.'”

Shepard went on to say, “I definitely freaked out. And I was like, ‘We’re going to turn into Jon & Kate Plus 8 or something. We already have no life! This is going to be not worth living.’ I freaked out. It was so bad.”

Dax continued as the audience laughed, “She had to work, so for eight hours we didn’t get a pregnancy test. For eight hours, I was imagining my life with all of these kids. That was on Tuesday and Thursday morning I had a vasectomy.”

He went on to say that Bell “wasn’t thrilled” he had it so quickly. Shepard had no explanation but described himself as “a man of action.”

According to Dax, the surgery wasn’t traumatizing as it seems. “I was in and out. I was back in Atlanta two days after that, shooting a Samsung commercial.”

That said, he went on to say that doctors had to collect a sperm sample so they know that the procedure went well. Instead of taking care of business in his home, Shepard was stuck in traffic on Laurel Canyon and decided it was the perfect location to “procure” a sample of sperm. Fortunately, Dax wasn’t arrested for exposing himself, and it ended on a happy note.

Shepard had previously told Ellen DeGeneres back in February that they were “sticking with two,” but now, for better or for worse, we know the couple are really serious about that number.

Prior to his vasectomy news, Shepard did say that his marriage takes a lot of work. Shepard and Bell sat down for a joint interview with Good Housekeeping to talk about the opposites-attract nature of their relationship. At the time, Dax said, “There were hurdles, things she didn’t trust about me, things I didn’t trust about her. I just kept going back to “This person has the thing I want, and I have to figure out how we can exist peacefully.” So we started [seeing a therapist together] right away.”

Shepard explained that the taboo of having a therapist shouldn’t exist. “There’s such a negative connotation. In my previous relationship, we went to couples’ therapy at the end, and that’s often too late. You can’t go after nine years and start figuring out what patterns you’re in.”

The pair met in 2007 and began dating, and in 2010 they announced they were engaged. After three long years, the couple married in October of 2013. Seems like they’re very levelheaded for a Hollywood couple.
