Nick Jonas Makes His Way To ‘Sesame Street,’ Sings Catchy Tune About Shapes With Three Lovable Characters

Who knew shapes could take on a whole new meaning? When you have Nick Jonas on your team, you certainly can’t go wrong. He has just recently joined the exclusive Sesame Street club, and it looks like he fits in quite well. The former Disney Channel star has made his way to the most popular street ever to sing about shapes with some very familiar faces.

The Sesame Street gang invited Jonas to perform a catchy tune with them to teach youngsters all about shapes. The song is called “Check That Shape,” and Nick fits right in with the adorable Muppets. As MTV News reported, Jonas is joined by Cookie Monster, Bert, and the Count as they show off their swag. If kids never knew what a pentagon or an octagon was, they certainly will now.

The song has loads of that familiar Nick Jonas sound to it. In fact, it is very similar to his hit single, “Jealous.” The singer hits his signature high notes while his three backup singers continuously tell kids to make sure to check their shapes.

It is almost a given that this Sesame Street music video will not only cater to children but also to teens and adults of all ages. The show was very smart to put Nick Jonas into the spotlight along with their regular stars of the show. Combining the 23-year-old singer, who is considered a heartthrob by many, with these three adorable characters may just be genius.

Nick Jonas sings as if he were completely in love with that sexy little shape dancing in front of him. He is so intrigued by it that he belts out how much it drives him out of his mind.

“There on the floor is a shape moving towards me. It’s not a circle and the shape’s not a square, it’s a shape and that is so fine. Yeah, the shape drives me out of my mind. How it moves and how the shape slides, c’mon, c’mon, let’s count the sides.”

Nick and the gang went on to count how many sides there are on a pentagon and an octagon. Only Nick Jonas can make a teaching moment about a simple shape into something more. Of course, it is fun and always kid-friendly.

Music has always been a learning tool for children, which is exactly what this long-running children’s program has always done. They take the opportunity to use catchy tunes to promote learning all about math, the alphabet, and anything else that will teach preschoolers a fun time with the help of those cute and fuzzy creatures. Even a grumpy one like Oscar the Grouch has his own way of teaching kids.

Nick was always known as the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers a few years back before the big breakup, but he has made it on his own as both a solo artist and as an actor. He has recently teamed up with his BFF Demi Lovato on a tour this year.

The duo will be singing plenty of their signature songs. Nick will also be performing a few of his tunes off of his upcoming album called Last Year Was Complicated. “Chainsaw” is his most recent single off of the album in which the singer admitted on Twitter that this was his most personal song he has ever written. He also explained on Twitter in simple terms what the song is all about.

“Hopefully my vulnerability speaks to you. I loved. It ended. I had regret. I wrote a song. #Chainsaw.”

The accompanying video is a fiery mixed bag of emotions coming from Jonas. His breakup from former girlfriend Olivia Culpo seems to be depicted in the video as he sings about taking a chainsaw to the sofa and anything else that will help him to move on from that relationship. His year was very complicated, and he wrote about it. The album’s release is slated for June 10.
