Khloe Kardashian Claims God Told Her To Divorce Lamar Odom After His Overdose, So Why Are They Still Married?
Khloe Kardashian is a lot more religious than previously thought. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star now claims that God was behind her initial split with Lamar Odom and her decision to stick with him after his near-fatal overdose.
According to Radar Online, Kardashian opened up about her views on religion and how her “relationship with God” played a part in her decision to leave Odom.
“When you think Kardashian, devout probably isn’t the first thing that crosses your mind,” Kardashian wrote in a piece for Lena Dunham’s Lenny. “Believe it or not, I come from a very religious family… Believing in a higher power is what guides me to make the right decisions.”
Kardashian went on to reveal that the death of her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., had a lasting impact on her life.
“After he passed, I was bitter and angry – I was VERY angry at God. I didn’t understand why someone who was so great, my dad – why he would be taken away,” she stated. “I was young, and I needed someone to blame for what had happened.”
According to Today, Kardashian eventually worked through the issues surrounding her father’s death. Apparently, books about spirituality and near-death experiences helped her better understand her father’s final moments.
Meanwhile, Kardashian also talked about her decision to finally divorce Odom. Not only is Kardashian at peace with the divorce, but she also revealed that her beliefs helped her make tough decisions.
“I’ve been blessed with a lot in my life, and I’ve also had challenges. It was a challenge for me when I decided to get divorced,” she shared. “At my core, I don’t believe in divorce, but I came to a point in my marriage where I had to make the choice to take care of my own mental and emotional well-being in order to protect myself and my happiness.”
Odom almost died when emergency responders found him unconscious in a Nevada brothel last fall. He had reportedly overdosed on cocaine and suffered brain damage as a result.
Ever since Odom’s close brush with death, Kardashian has been by his side to help him through his difficult recovery.
“I am still honoring [those vows] today even though my relationship with my ex-husband is in a different place,” Kardashian continued. “I believe in caring for my partner — past or present — ‘in sickness and in health,’ and feel at peace with my relationship with God even after the fact.”
ET Online is reporting that Kardashian started the divorce process back in late 2013. However, despite Kardashian’s desire to go through with the divorce, it has not been finalized.
“I’m thankful that I can rely on my God, who, along with my family, has led me through some of the most difficult times of my life,” Khloe Kardashian added.
While Khloe claims to be “at peace” with the divorce, Lamar had a different take on his split with Kardashian.
“We did talk, you know, everything is [up for] discussion,” he stated. “We talk about anything. We’ve been through a lot. It won’t ever stop.”
Odom has improved a lot over the past few months and appears ready to continue life on his own. With Kardashian still wanting to get a divorce and Odom desiring to remain with her, it is unclear what the future holds for the couple.
At least fans can rest assured that Kardashian will consult her higher power in any and all future decisions. Based on her recent comments, the divorce is still very much in play.
On one of the latest episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloe even explained that she could re-marry Lamar, but the divorce from their first “tainted” marriage was going to happen.
