Desiigner Drops Official ‘Panda’ Video, Reads ‘Panda’ Lyrics — Gets 1 Million Views In 24 Hours [NSFW]

Sidney Royel Selby III — the 19-year-old better known as Desiigner — took over the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart top position from Rihanna’s “Work” when Desiigner replaced her song with “Panda,” as reported by USA Today. Both songs enjoyed an equally confusing cadence, making people switch from wondering what Rihanna was actually saying to Drake in “Work” — as reported by the Inquisitr, to wondering what Desiigner was rapping about in “Panda.”

Now that Desiigner has released his official “Panda” music video, people are more curious than ever about the lyrics. With Desiigner’s talented and unique way of speaking, some might wonder if Desiigner hails from an exotic locale, like Rihanna. But no, Desiigner was born and raised in Brooklyn’s “do or die” Bed-Stuy neighborhood.

Warning: The below Desiigner “Panda” official music video contains language and scenes that might be offensive to some viewers.

The official Desiigner “Panda” music video was released on Tuesday, May 17, and within about 24 hours had swelled to more than 820,000 views on YouTube. The below video, which shows Desiigner reading “Panda” lyrics at a slower rate, has gotten nearly 270,000 views on YouTube within the same 24-hour period — so Desiigner has gotten more than 1 million views on the two videos alone in one day.

A stroll through the comments section of Desiigner’s “Panda” video reveals plenty of compliments on Desiigner’s lyrics, rapping style, and video for “Panda” — along with folks criticizing Desiigner’s cadence, claiming Desiigner stole his style from Future. Indeed, “Panda” is reminiscent in flow to Future’s “F*** Up Some Commas” style of rapping. But along with those critiques are comments about how difficult it is to understand what Desiigner is rhyming about.

“I can’t wait for the English version of this song. It was lit!”

With Kanye West popping up in the “Panda” video, which was directed by Paul Geusebroek, it makes for a delightfully dabbing Desiigner indeed. Another video shows Desiigner helping his listeners know what he’s saying in “Panda.”

Again, there’s a warning on the language used in the Desiigner video of him reading his “Panda” lyrics.

Desiigner explained the lyrics to his “Panda” song by reading them slowly in the above video. Yet and still, folks who hear Desiigner spit his “Panda” flow slowly still might need to turn to the Interwebs and the Urban Dictionary to figure out what Desiigner is talking about.

Desiigner’s “Panda” lyrics, as reported by Genius, explain the bulk of what most people don’t understand about the “Panda” lyrics and song. First off, “Panda” came about when Desiigner noted how much a white BMW X6 looks like a panda.

Yet and still, Desiigner speeds up his “Panda” lyrics once he gets into the flow of things and doesn’t even read the memorized lyrics from his phone towards the end of the video.

The NSFW music video for “Panda” features a panda painted on the backside of a twerking woman. The opening of the “Panda” song features Desiigner repeating the word panda many times.

“Hey…Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda.”

After that opening is when Desiigner begins to boast in “Panda” about the women he has in Atlanta. Ironically, Desiigner says he’s never been to Atlanta. The fact that Desiigner has broads in Atlanta is pretty self explanatory — as is the toxic “lean” drink that rappers often rap about. A bando is an abandoned house, often used for smoking crack and doing other drugs — which can be nicknamed a “trap” house.

All of Desiigner’s other “Panda” lyrics are explained brilliantly on Genius. They involve lots of designer clothing mentions and lyrics about luxury cars.
