‘Legends Of Tomorrow’: Marc Guggenheim And Phil Klemmer Say Season 2 Will Have More DC Characters, But Will Constantine Be One Of Them? [Spoilers]

Legends of Tomorrow closed out Season 1, and possibly, maybe, has finally taken out the show’s Big Bad, Vandal Savage. Legends of Tomorrow is another DC Comics show that has mixed opinions about the overall show itself, but many have been holding out hope for its future direction i.e. Legends of Tomorrow Season 2.

According to the Inquisitr, showrunner Phil Klemmer says there won’t be many new characters.

Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow writer Marc Guggenheim disagrees.

“We love the idea that the show is a gateway to the whole of the DC Universe, and we have an actual opportunity to go to every corner of the DC Universe, any time or any place that the story makes sense. I also think that Johnathon Schaech was an incredible Hex, and we were talking last night about doing another episode with him already. I will say that you’ll see even more DC characters in Season Two. By a large margin.”

Legends of Tomorrow was once about a renegade Time Master named Rip Hunter who formed a team of comic book villains and heroes to change the timeline to save his wife and child, but it turns out that Time Masters have been manipulating Rip and aiding Vandal Savage.

Comicbook reports that the Legends of Tomorrow writers had always planned on the Time Masters being malevolent or at least since they produced the Season 1 pilot episode.

“I think it came out of the pilot. When we first met Rip, the Time Masters were saying “Sorry, we’re not going to help you,” and it got us wondering — why wouldn’t they? “

Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer was the first to give a different perspective on what Season 2 would look like, but this was all pre-Legends of Tomorrow season finale, which just came to pass in a very legendary way.

Vandal Savage was defeated in three different time periods, where the show finally and successfully utilized the powers of its entire team. Legends of Tomorrow naysayers will have likely enjoyed the Season 1 finally, but what about Legends of Tomorrow Season 2?

Well, the Time Masters and Rip Hunter are in an awkward position with no way of looking into the future, and the finale confirmed that the new team might need to look out for the timeline themselves, even though, it would appear that there is a side mission for the Legends of Tomorrow, enter Rex Tyler/Hourman.

Guggenheim explains that “there are no more Time Masters,” which wasn’t apparent by the end of Season 1, but he compares Rip to a Sea captain in the 1600s in Season 2.

“And the difference between a 21st Century Sea captain who has GPS and radar and extremely accurate weather models, and a Sea captain in the 1600s is a whole other kettle of fish. It’s a fundamentally different job in a lot of ways.”

Legends of Tomorrow has officially lost three main characters, but it was pretty obvious by the Season 1 finale that they were likely out of the picture for Season 2. The Hawks, as some have come to refer to Hawkman and Hawkgirl, join Captain Cold as the “Legends” who have completed their quests for the DC Comics show.

While it was said of “The Hawks” that they were no longer “series regulars,” it is possible they will be seen again. Also, Captain Cold has already been slated to return to The Flash and Arrow, but right now, it is unclear as to how.

Of course, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow fans are likely asking about Constantine.

Legends of Tomorrow will have a Justice Society of America focus, and that is all we know right now. Constantine has crossed paths with Dr. Fate and a few others in said society, so who knows. John Constantine could end up back on Arrow for all we know. In any case, fans have a lot to look forward to in Legends of Tomorrow Season 2.
