Gwen Stefani Reveals How Blake Shelton Inspired Her To Go Bare, Flaunts Fab Abs Amid Miranda Lambert Feud [Photos]

Gwen Stefani has joined the elite club of female celebrities who “dare to bare.” Casting aside their cosmetics and giving their glam squads the day off, these brave women have shared selfies in which they showcase their make-up-free faces. What inspired Gwen to join them? Credit Blake Shelton, she told People.

That now famous no-makeup selfie that the 46-year-old shared on Instagram last week began with a decision to come up with an adorable photo to send to her country music boyfriend.

“I was laying there, I just got in bed and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll send a picture to Blake.’ You just start fooling around with it. I actually had a new camera on my phone and I just took that picture.”

Once she achieved the perfect bare-faced selfie, Gwen posted it on social media just for fun. But the mom-of-three admits that she took a variety before choosing the cutest.

“I probably took about 10. That one looked cute and I was like, ‘I’ll just post it,’ ” she recalled.

It immediately went viral, with her 4 million fans loving the change from her usual bright red lipstick and super-slick hair style. No cosmetics and no hair-styling turned into an instant hit among her followers, with some urging her to keep the natural look.

“You should never wear makeup!! Too beautiful without!!” exclaimed one fan.

“A natural beauty,” praised another.

“Most beautiful look I’ve ever seen you rockin!” gushed a third.

In addition to Stefani, celebrities rocking that no-makeup look in their selfies range from Cameron Diaz to Lady Gaga, noted Harper’s Bazaar.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford dared to bare at 50.

“First day at 50. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes yesterday!” posted Crawford.

But the supermodel also didn’t try to hide her use of a glam squad.

Salma Hayek offered her formula for the ideal no-makeup selfie at 49.

“Wet hair, no make up, no filter, no retouch, but very good light,” recommended Salma.

And Laverne Cox advocated going make-up free to allow the skin to breathe.

“Finally a few days to relax….Always good to have days with no makeup to let my skin breath.#washfacenobase#TransIsBeautiful,” advised Cox.

And while those celebrities dared to bare their faces, Stefani took it one step further and bared her fab abs as well, pointed out Perez Hilton.

While her outfit at Wango Tango in L.A. on Saturday had some questioning whether the pop singer had combined a figure-skater costume with a craft project, that whittled waistline earned appreciation.

For those who want to steal her sculpted figure secrets, Stefani is candid, according to Shape.

“There is no secret: you just have to eat healthy, work out, and torture yourself!”

However, her former trainer, Mike Heatlie, offered more details about the “torture,” including high-intensity weight-training combined with cardiovascular work.

“Adopt maybe four to five exercises and perform them without any rest between sets and then do one to three minutes of high-intensity cardiovascular work; moves like 20 reps of full barbell squats, 12 reps of military press, 20 reps of reverse barbell lunges, 15 reps of dumbbell chest press, and three minutes of cycling,” suggested Mike.

The celebrity trainer also recommends following a low-carbohydrate diet with “extremely limited” amounts of foods containing sugar.

While Stefani and Shelton have been sharing the results of her “torture” in their photos on social media, including PDA, his former wife, Miranda Lambert, isn’t so thrilled about the concept of going public when it comes to showcasing her own love for her new boyfriend, Anderson East, pointed out She Knows.

“I really believe in leaving some mystery,” declared Lambert. “I don’t need to know what everybody’s doing all the time.”

And in contrast to the way that her former husband and new girlfriend share their feelings on Twitter, Miranda confessed that tweeting makes her anxious.

“To think of something clever or make sure you spell something right… I always have 14 people read it because I’m worried about all of it,” admitted Lambert.

While some are speculating that Miranda was shading her former husband for parading his PDA on social media, it’s Lambert and Stefani reported to be feuding. Hollywood Life cites an insider who claims that Miranda was hurt by those displays of affection.

“Gwen paraded her romance with Blake like it was some big prize she won at the county fair…It wasn’t fair and it wasn’t nice.”

However, Lambert reportedly is in touch with Shelton, and that is causing pain for Stefani.

“Miranda doesn’t hold back when she communicates with Blake, whether it’s through texts that she knows Gwen will see, phone calls or through mutual friends. Gwen feels Miranda is hurt and acting out when she does it. But even though she knows that, it doesn’t sting any less,” added the insider.
