Will There Be A ‘Hamilton’ Carpool Karaoke? Fans Seem To Think So

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you’ve probably heard about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit musical, Hamilton. Inspired by Ron Chernow’s biography about the first Secretary of Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton the musical has become a phenomenon. From receiving a Grammy and a Pulitzer Prize to being nominated for 16 Tony Awards, a new record for Tony nominations, Miranda’s hit musical is on a roll.

The soundtrack continues to stay in iTunes top 10 week after week; the book about the musical, Hamilton: The Revolution, is now a number one bestseller; and the show is now gearing up to head on tour, bringing the story of Alexander Hamilton across the country and the world.

It’s no surprise then that the cast of Hamilton, both as a whole and as individual cast members, have been asked to perform almost everywhere including the White House, the Tonight Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Last Week Tonight. Most recently, Daveed Diggs, who plays both Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, and Leslie Odom, Jr., who plays Aaron Burr, performed a special rap at the ESPN Upfronts.

Now it seems Miranda will be making an appearance on another late-night talk show with James Corden, this year’s host of the Tony’s. Based on a picture taken by Twitter user Jessie Fant, fans now believe Lin-Manuel Miranda will be participating in Corden’s popular Carpool Karaoke segment on Corden’s The Late Late Show.

Based on the photo, it does in fact look like Miranda is driving around with Corden in the car Corden uses for his karaoke segments. In the photo you can clearly see the side of Miranda’s face and a camera attached to the front window of the car. Although Corden isn’t totally visible, from what can be seen from the photo it does look like him.

This single photo was enough to set Hamilton fans into a frenzy.

Corden has become well known for his popular Carpool Karaoke videos, where he picks up a celebrity and they drive around just chatting and singing along to songs, as friends typically do. Guests Corden has done karaoke with include Justin Bieber, One Direction, Adele, Gwen Stefani, and Jennifer Lopez.

Most recently, Corden picked up good friends and pop stars Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas. The video has since gone viral as Demi, Nick, and James decide to join together and start their own band while sharing secrets about Demi and Nick’s dating lives during their Disney days.

Corden, who has a background in music and continuously surprises his musical guests with his own pipes, will no doubt delight in having Lin-Manuel Miranda as a singing partner if they are in fact doing Carpool Karaoke. Besides all the popular songs from Hamilton, Miranda and Corden will probably belt out some other popular Broadway tunes, including some from Miranda’s other musical, In the Heights.

Whatever these two decide to sing, it will undoubtedly be amazing and well harmonized. Plus, with Miranda’s now famous freestyle skills, Corden will definitely have Miranda make up a new rap that we’ll probably all enjoy and want a copy of in our iTunes.
