‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Will ‘Steroline’ Ever Find Happiness? Julie Plec Responds [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale ended in a shocking way. There were a lot of theories, but viewers had no idea it would result in Damon and Enzo’s current predicament. However, there were some good things that happened in “Gods & Monsters.” For one, Caroline had to admit she really had feelings for Stefan. Now that she has thawed towards Stefan, what will their future be like in Season 8? Will “Steroline” ever find happiness, or will their lives always be interrupted by some sort of supernatural drama? Executive producer Julie Plec responded to this question.

Warning: Spoilers for The Vampire Diaries are below if you have not watched the Season 7 finale.

Stefan and Caroline have a lot of fans that hoped they would get back together. In the second half of Season 7, “Steroline” split apart, but it was not a mutual decision. One day, Stefan showed up in Dallas and saw Caroline and Alaric behaving like a happy family. Instead of talking to Caroline, he just disappeared. The mother of twins was heartbroken and angry, which is understandable. Even though she ended up in a relationship with Alaric, it was clear she was not making the right decision.

Yes, Alaric provided stability. However, “Steroline” is the couple that has chemistry.

In “Gods & Monsters,” fans finally rejoiced when Stefan and Caroline kissed. What made it even more touching is that Alaric completely understood that “Steroline” is forever. He was not angry and did not blame her. In fact, Alaric was the one who told Caroline that she deserved to be happy.

So, now that “Steroline” is back together, will they remain a couple in Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries? Will Damon and Enzo’s little problem force the couple to escape happiness once again?

“You know, I always say that the saddest and truest rule of television is that there’s no drama in happy. But there’s also the exception to that rule, which is that sometimes happiness is as comforting as soup when you’re sick,” Julie Plec told TV Line regarding Stefan and Caroline. “I’d really like to see Caroline and Stefan enjoy some of that comfort for as long as we can eek it out, before they have to stumble across another obstacle.”

As fans know, there already is another obstacle and as usual, it has to do with Damon Salvatore. However, this time, it really isn’t Damon’s fault, as the creature pretended to use Elena’s voice. Once he was close enough, the monster took over Damon’s mind before doing the same thing to Enzo.

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will have Damon and Enzo going on a crazy killing spree of epic proportions. Stefan, Caroline, and Bonnie will be busy trying to track the two vampires down. However, with Bonnie’s magic gone, it is easier said than done.

In the past, Stefan has always gone to great lengths for Damon. That will continue in Season 8, the executive producer added, and Caroline will be there every step of the way.

“Well, Stefan’s really going to need her. He’s very determined to get Damon back on track, and it’s not going to be an easy task,” Plec explained. “He’s going to need someone there for moral support.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kat Graham’s character is going to have a difficult time dealing with everything that has happened. Not only is her magic gone, but she lost the two most important men in her life: Damon and Enzo.

Fans hope that Damon and Enzo will be found and can be brought back to the real selves. However, Design & Trend asked an even bigger question: Will Bonnie be able to accept their murderous actions, or will it be too much for her? Will she blame herself for what happened to Damon and Enzo?
