It is not the first time Chicago Fire has put one of its own in trouble. In fact, this episode comes hot on the heels of Danny’s death. This death is putting Jimmy in a difficult position, as he blames Chief Boden despite it being Danny’s decision to stay in the building longer. However, the blame may end up playing on the chief when he realizes he may lose another of his own.

Dawson has been an integral part of the team from day one. Whether it has been her crush and relationship with Casey or her push to care for her patients above all else, she has always been at the forefront. It is not completely surprising that she has a major role in the Chicago Fire Season 4 finale, but for some, it is a shock that she is in the line of fire. Ecumenical News reports that she is still in the process of adopting Louie.

Fans have mixed opinions about how the finale will all play out. Some think that Dawson will be safe, deciding that the show will not kill off a favorite. There has been no mention of Monica Raymund leaving the show, suggesting that she will be back and potentially fighting for her life in Season 5. Others are panicking that she will die, leaving a huge gap in the show. So many are invested in her relationship with Casey and her adoption of Louis.

There is no indication of when the explosion will happen. It is possible that the episode will end with it, and Chicago Fire Season 5 will open with Dawson fighting for her life or her death confirmed. There is also the possibility that it will happen towards the start, and it will give Jimmy more of a reason to let out his anger against Boden for the death of Danny.

The Season 4 finale trailer shows that Dawson and Casey also have a lot to work out. She accuses him of not being ready for a family and is pushing forward with the adoption. It certainly appears that the little boy wants Dawson to be his mom, and it will be up to Casey now whether he wants to be there with Dawson or not.

This explosion may make him realize how selfish he has been or how much he does want a family. It may be the push he needs to put Dawson’s wishes first, although it could end up with a bittersweet ending if she does die. If the outcome is left until the Season 5 premiere, it opens up the chance for the writers to explore all the characters and how they deal with the potential loss of such a major character.

It really does appear that the explosion will happen towards the end of the episode. Boden is left getting Dawson to radio in after she tells Kidd to scale down the building first. There is radio silence, indicating that Dawson has been killed. The storyline may be wrapped up quickly, with the last 10 minutes or so showing that she was just shaken from it and took a while to get back on the radio. However, the clip certainly makes it look like she is not making it out of this alive.

Fans will find out the outcome in the Chicago Fire Season 4 finale on Tuesday, May 17.
