‘X-Files’: David Duchovny And Gillian Anderson On Board For Season 11

X-Files is likely to return for a Season 11, according to Fox CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman. The two have been in talks with creator Chris Carter along with X-File stars David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully).

“I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show, ” said Walden.

The Inquisitr reported on Duchovny’s enthusiasm for an X-Files Season 11.

“I would love to. I think we all would,” Duchovny stated regarding shooting additional X-Files episodes.

Duchovny and Anderson already have hectic schedules, so the soonest X-Files fans should expect anything wouldn’t be until the 2017-2018 television season.

“Hopefully, this time next year we will have more news,” said Walden.

X-Files Season 10 ran for six episodes and, according to E! News, was the No. 1 event series of the television season. After the success of X-Files Season 10, Carter expressed confidence the series would be renewed for Season 11.

“I can’t imagine, with the ratings that we’ve got and the way we ended this season, that there won’t be more X-Files,” he said. “They will find a way to get that done. Because I spoke about it briefly with Dana Walden… so there’s an appetite there and… a chance certainly to find how we’re gonna get ourselves off this precipice.”

“We’ve had conversations with all of them that have included discussion about what kind of episodic order makes sense,” added Newman. “Conversations are on-going and I can tell you that Chris and David and Gillian all would like to do more of these.”

X-Files Season 10 left fans with a huge cliffhanger. Scully discovered she had alien DNA, which would protect her from a global biological attack. Her only hope in saving Mulder was to find and use stem cells from the child the agents had spawned together and gave up for adoption 14 years prior. The last scene in the X-Files finale has Scully and Agent Miller (Robbie Amell) caught beneath the beam of an alien spaceship. Mulder watches helplessly from his car.

If you missed the X-Files Season 10 finale or just want a reminder of events, you can catch up with E! News on all the highlights.

With a major cliffhanger looming over us and high ratings, X-File fans were a bit shocked and disappointed not to see Season 11 in the fall 2016 television line-up. The news we are likely to have more adventures with Mulder and Scully (although looks like we’ll be waiting for awhile) has fans stoked.

X-Files Season 10 gave us so many of the things we loved about the original 90’s episodes. Duchovny and Anderson still have great chemistry, and the show mixes serious government conspiracies and coverups with humor and plenty of weirdness. X-Files Season 11 is looking like a strong possibility, but we’re all going to have to be patient. In the meantime, fans have 10 whole Seasons of X-Files on Hulu for your binge-watching pleasure.
