WWE News: Former TNA Wrestling Star Velvet Sky And Other TNA Knockouts Possibly Heading To WWE

It should come as no surprise that WWE is trying to better their women’s division. The problem is that while the main roster is certainly getting better, the WWE NXT roster is not quite what it used to be. This is mainly due to four big departures in Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and now Emma. Dana Brooke could also be added to the list, as she was improving drastically and was quite useful as a heel in NXT.

WWE wants to bring up Bayley from NXT as well, but the organization has not been able to due to the fact that they have no one to replace her as a top name there. While Asuka is fantastic, she is not able to run the division on her own against the small field of talent. WWE needs opponents for her to face that people can see as legitimate threats. Bayley is clearly the only person on the NXT roster that fans could see beating the champ. Now the company has to build up other women, but they may be able to do something even better.

The Inquisitr reported that WWE was planning to do a women’s tournament, similar to what we will see with the Cruiserweight Classic this summer. It will run similar to the Diva Search where WWE will bring in women from around the world to basically see what they can do as female Superstars. However, the tournament idea will most likely change up as WWE will possibly do something a bit different in the end. Right now, it is only in the planning stages and not set to occur until at least the end of this year.

The success of the tournament this summer will determine if the company wants to go through with the idea. This may be a good plan on WWE’s part, as the company will surely be able to help themselves out here. We may even see some interesting names come on board to take part in it.

Now Daily Wrestling News reports that the tournament could feature a great deal of former TNA Knockouts, more specifically talent like Velvet Sky. It is no secret that she would like to be part of WWE and has been open about it in the past. She is currently dating Bubba Ray Dudley, who has been vocal about her coming to the WWE as well. It seems pretty obvious that with girls needed for the possible all-women’s show that Velvet Sky will be one of the people WWE considers bringing in.

It seems that WWE officials are pretty open to the idea of bringing her in, so it looks like she very well could have some role in WWE before too long. While Velvet Sky is surely a major name that WWE can bring in to take part in the program, the fact that WWE is open to bringing in other girls from TNA’s past is a big deal as well. People like Angelina Love and Taryn Terrell are currently out of their contracts and could be big additions.

The problem with bringing them in is that they would be huge for the show, but they would not be a major part of the future of the women’s division in WWE NXT. Both Love and Taryn are moms now and it does not look like they want to take on a role that would keep them on the road a lot. Taryn has stayed retired since leaving TNA and feels that it would be bad of her to go back to the ring. However, a random show may not be a problem. Love has expressed interest in going back to the ring this summer and would be big for NXT.

A name that would probably be on the short-list is Awesome Kong, who was with WWE years ago under the name Kharma. She was only with the company for a short time before getting pregnant, then eventually left the company. WWE left the door open to return down the line, but there remains some speculation that they might want her to take part because she has had locker room issues in TNA.

We should not expect any of the women currently under contract with TNA to appear on the show. However, there could be a lot of surprising names taking part in the show. WWE will clearly want to bring in more women that they can use for the future, but there will certainly not be any harm in bringing in women that can be big just for the show alone.
