The College With The Worst Campus Food In America Is…

If you’re looking for a decent meal, you probably want to steer clear of the Fordham University cafeteria.

Fordham has the worst campus food of any college in America, according to the Princeton Review, the test prep firm that also ranks schools by 62 different categories based on over 100,000 student surveys.

Fordham, located in the Bronx, New York, is known for its academics, but it won’t be winning any awards for cuisine.

One Fordham student implied, according to the New York Daily News, that the Princeton Review rating hardly came as a shock:

“The cafeteria food has been somewhat of a joke for a while. Everyone loves the campus, but anyone would tell you the worst part of it there is the food. I’ve had friends who’ve found everything from bugs to thumbtacks in their food.”

Fordham cafeterias have also been busted by NYC health inspectors. In April 2011, the Fordham student newspaper reported that health inspectors had issued citations for various sanitary code violations on campus:

“The inspections unearthed evidence of mice, roaches and improper storage of food, shortcomings that placed Fordham eateries in the lowest grade bracket.”

In response to the low Princeton Review rating, a Fordham University spokesperson said the institution will “take whatever action is necessary to address the problems with our food service program.”

In case you’re wondering, Maine’s Bowdoin College offers the best campus food, according to the survey results.

In 2011, actor Denzel Washington donated $2.5 million to Fordham, his alma mater. Most of it went to the theater department, but it sounds like the cafeteria system could have benefited from some of the cash.

If you’re a college student heading back to campus in the next week or so, what’s the meal plan like where you go to school?
