New ‘Lincoln’ Movie Poster: Daniel Day-Lewis Could Be The 16th President’s Twin

Daniel Day Lewis and Abraham Lincoln have to be related. They just have to be. The new movie poster for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln shows the two-time Academy Award winner dressed up as the 16th President. And, well, it looks really, really good.

Daniel Day-Lewis already has two Oscars under his belt, and, now that he’s teaming up with Spielberg, people are already talking about a third.

It will be a little while until we see some footage from Spielberg’s new movie. But today, at least, we can read the synopsis.

Dream Works Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox write:

“Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in “Lincoln,” a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.”

In addition to Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln will feature performances from Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook, and Tommy Lee Jones. The screenplay, written by Tony Kushner, is based on the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
