Apple iPhone 7 Is Coming, Why You Shouldn’t Upgrade

Are you one of the Apple fanatics who are eager to upgrade to the next Apple iPhone product as soon as it hits the shelves? Maybe you should rethink that with the iPhone 7.

Apple is coming out with the iPhone 7 this year and the industry is expecting the upcoming iPhone to hit public consumption in September 2016. And, as expected with all Apple iPhone releases, tons of leaks, rumors, and expectations are already circulating around the web. Design, features, overall value for money—will the iPhone 7 live to our dreams or our fears?

If you’re expecting a dramatic change in the design of the upcoming iPhone 7, then you might as well calm your nerves right now. A lot of leaks are already here regarding prototypes and supply chain leaks and they all show an iPhone 7 that’s about to look as different from the iPhone 6 as the Olsen twins (let’s be real, no one can really tell the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, apart if they do not come donning dissimilar hair and makeup).

Are you willing to shell out your cold, hard cash for something that basically looks like last year’s item? Maybe not so much.

An even better camera is on the way for the iPhone 7. Let’s admit it, the camera of the iPhone 6 is spectacular. This writer is a Samsung girl through and through, but the selfies that an iPhone 6 can deliver just make my heart skip a beat. So, if the iPhone 7 is going to come with an even better low-light camera that can focus twice as fast as the older one, then that could be a deal breaker. But, here’s the catch. A lot of rumors are coming out that there will be an iPhone 7 Pro that’s going to come out just like how there’s an iPhone 6 Plus to the iPhone 6. The camera catch is that the better camera could be skipping the iPhone 7 and only be added to the more expensive iPhone 7 Pro. Alphr reports the rumor.

“Reports from pretty much everywhere suggest the iPhone 7 will have a dual-camera array. The multi-camera technology is reportedly from Linx, a company Apple bought just under a year ago. We think the dual-cameras won’t be used for 3D capability, but will make autofocusing faster and give better low-light pictures. Pretty much what the new Huawei does, then. However, it looks like not every iPhone 7 could have the new double camera setup. Several experts have suggest the dual-camera array will be reserved for the high-end version of the iPhone 7, which will probably be called the iPhone 7 Pro.”

So, if that proves to be true, then you should be listening even closer.

One of the main reasons I actually discourage you to upgrade to the iPhone 7 is that the iPhone 8 will be far better an upgrade than the iPhone 7. Reports are already calling it the iPhone 8 but technically, it’s the 2017 iPhone that’s going to deliver some of the most cutting-edge technology that we will be seeing.

Apple blogger John Gruber, also a respected commentator in the tech world, reveals that he has heard some pretty convincing rumors about the 2017 iPhone—and that is it’s going to feature an edge-to-edge display. That’s crazy exciting! Gruber shares the news I n the latest episode of his podcast The Talk Show.

“I think next year’s phone, the 2017 model, the one that will come out in September of 2017. What I have heard—now this is not really from the rumor mill but just scuttlebutt that I’ve heard—is that it will be an all-new form factor.

“And there have been some rumors, I guess, but what I’m saying is that I’ve heard this independently and it is completely getting rid of the chin and forehead of the phone. The entire face will be the display. And the Touch ID sensor will be somehow embedded in the display. The front-facing camera will somehow be embedded in the display. The speaker, everything. All the sensors will somehow be behind the display.”

So, if we’re getting such an amazing phone in 2017, then we might as well keep our eyes peeled for that one instead of the upcoming iPhone 7, which is going to be such a bore. Anyway, even financial analysts are already expecting the iPhone 7 to fail so hard that Apple is hitting its 2-year low on the stock market due to the drop in iPhone sales.

“Analysts at Oppenheimer warned last month that Apple’s weak performance is likely to continue until the late-2017 launch of a new iPhone form factor. They lowered their fiscal 2016 and 2017 earnings per share estimates to $8.24 and $9.18 from $9.18 and $10.44 previously.”

So, for now, I can advise you to steer clear of the iPhone 7 and maybe just wait around for the 2017 iPhone. Anyway, your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S or iPhone SE—whichever iPhone you were bullied by Apple to buy—can probably hold you off for now.
