Is Bethenny Frankel Complaining About How Successful She’s Become?

Bethenny Frankel used to be broke. The Real Housewives of New York star joined the show with a small business called Bethenny Bakes, and she was literally baking cookies and other baked goods and selling them to people throughout the day. In her book, A Place of Yes, she talks about how she used to get up early in the morning to make cookies that she could then sell during the day at various locations. She knew it wasn’t a good business plan in the long run, and she started experimenting with cocktails — more specifically, the skinny margarita.

According to a new tweet, Bethenny Frankel admits that she would complain that she didn’t have enough money and struggled to make it work. But some of her fans believe that she’s continuing to complain — now about being successful.

“We USED 2 listen 2 Bethenny complain she couldn’t get work moving. NOW we listen 2 her complain about being successful,” user @SmawtAss wrote to Frankel as Wednesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York aired, to which Frankel replied, “Not one complaint, you very negative person. My role is to be honest with people about what it entails. #Block.”

And many of Frankel’s fans quickly came to her defense. It’s no secret that Frankel is very busy in her business and may be a little stressed out here and there, but she admits that she is in no way complaining about her success. Bethenny has revealed that she does enjoy having money more than being broke, and her fans completely understood what she meant when she complained about being busy.

“Omg she was not complaining….are you living in an altered reality?” one person wrote, while another added, “Do you, Be true to you. You’ve gotten this far Bethenny and people love you for it. I appreciate another up front woman!”

Of course, Bethenny Frankel may have been a little rattled when she learned that her friend and co-star, Sonja Morgan, was launching her very own line of booze. It wasn’t so much that she was dabbling in the booze industry, as many other Real Housewives stars have done. It was more that Frankel’s Skinnygirl business name was being copied. Sonja had decided to call her new line, Tipsy Girl. And that didn’t sit well with Frankel, who opened up in her blog about her disappointment.

“Sonja has had: an event company, a jewelry line, toaster, Nigerian football team, fashion line, and now a Prosecco–none of which have come to fruition. It is laughable but more sad. Women, this is not how it works. This is the problem when being a reality star is your actual job versus having a career the show follows. People create imaginary businesses to stay relevant,” Bethenny Frankel revealed on her blog for Bravo, sharing that many people just put their names on something and then go out to market the product.

Frankel has been very vocal about owning Skinnygirl and everything that brand stands for. Bethenny does hint that Sonja’s business ventures aren’t exactly successful, sharing that even her line of Prosecco hasn’t even hit the market. And she guesses that the booze will just fall behind the toaster and the fashion line.

“I know the numbers and believe me, it isn’t easy and almost all have discontinued or are currently a vanity play. I have begrudged none of them. There is room for everyone, and I hit it out of the park,” she explains, adding that many other copy brands appear to fall into the background.

What do you think of Bethenny Frankel’s success? Do you think she’s complaining about her success, or is she just tired of people copying her?
