Phil Robertson Stars In New Film ‘Torchbearer,’ ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Says Removal Of God Creates Depravity

Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson is not one to mince words when it comes to his faith in God and all things biblical. He has gotten himself into trouble more than once, but he doesn’t seem to care. As long as he gets his message out to those who will listen, he is okay with the criticism that comes his way. His latest venture is a film called Torchbearer in which he stars in and also narrates. It is expected to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France next week and will be shown at the Republican Convention in Cleveland in July.

The Robertson patriarch sat down with Stephen K. Bannon, host of Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM and director of the movie, to discuss the nature of the film and the decline of our society after taking God out of the equation. The topics of the Auschwitz concentration camp, Normandy, ISIS, abortion, and also the perversion of television and music are touched on heavily in this film. Phil talks about depravity in America.

“If you look around, the frustration you see coming out of America, in my opinion, is primarily being fueled by the depravity [that] has become mainstream. Murder is mainstream, we slaughter our own children. We priss around and parade our perversion; it’s being done in front of our very eyes. Depravity, literally. And I never thought I’d see it in my lifetime. But it has literally become mainstream.”

Phil Robertson not only one to talk about those issues, but he actually visits those places of death and devastation. He admitted just how emotional he became seeing these places firsthand. The reality star compares the past history of slaughtering in Auschwitz and the French Revolution to what is going on with ISIS these days as well.

The trailer shows Phil walking around and preaching on how the world that has stopped believing in God has become very self-centered and wanting more power. This leads men away from God to determine their own version of what is right and wrong. Disturbing clips such as a beheading, a man ready to be burned alive, and men being shot dead is enough to make anyone quiver with fear. He believes that this is happening because of a Godless world.

There is also a lot of Miley Cyrus shown in the trailer as Robertson talks about the sexual depravity in our society. Her “Wrecking Ball” video gave this film plenty to talk about when it comes to Hollywood and celebrities baring it all. There is also a little bit of Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian mixed in.

The Duck Commander mentions that “the sexual experience is now the highest summit of our happiness.”

Stephen Bannon told the Daily Mail that Torchbearer is not meant to tip-toe around these issues, but the scenes are meant to be shocking, and people should be disturbed when they see the film. He also mentioned that he is proud that Phil Robertson had the guts to make this film because he is sure to receive plenty of backlash when people see it.

Of course, Phil is no stranger to that sort of thing. After he made his comments against homosexuality back in 2013, pretty much anything he says now has made headlines. Just yesterday, the 70-year-old Louisianan weighed in on the transgender bathroom issue and immediately received heat. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Robertson sent out an email to conservatives spilling about his “radical idea.”

“Men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom. Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted.”

He also included a plea for donations to an organization called Speak Freely from Citizens United, who is also involved in the making of the movie. Phil says that he still has hope for the United States and is calling for the government to turn to God, just as our Founding Fathers had done in the past.

“I think there is hope, because the great thing that God has allowed for human beings is, we do and we can repent of our wickedness and turn to Him. So basically, I’m calling [on] the United States of America, beginning with the government — they need to just repent, turn back to God and heed the warnings of our Founding Fathers.”

Phil Robertson has gotten into the political scene this year with his public backing of Ted Cruz during the Republican primaries. Now that Cruz is no longer in the running for president, Robertson has given his blessing to Donald Trump. Willie Robertson has endorsed Trump from the beginning and now Phil joins him in getting Trump elected. Torchbearer is meant to help motivate conservative voters to get out there and vote.
