‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Finale: Is Elena In The Vault?

Is it possible that Elena is in the vault in The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale? It certainly seems plausible considering her body was inside The Armoury before Bonnie sealed it after opening the vault.

The monster is out, and the Salvatore brothers find themselves going inside to save their witch friend. The Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries airs on Friday the 13th, and it looks like the monster may have taken over the person they both fought over.

What brings them back to The Armoury? Enzo believes that it is the only way to save Bonnie. They need to sever the connection to the curse so she no longer feels the pull to kill her friends and boyfriend. The problem is the only way to sever that curse is inside the dangerous Armoury. Of course, really it sets up the story for Season 8, as it is unlikely the monster in the vault is going to be destroyed in the finale.

Damon is heard whispering Elena’s name in the trailer for The Vampire Diaries‘ finale. It is possible that he is just worried about the love of his life, but it also hints that he will come face to face with her while in there. Nobody really knows for sure, and there has been nobody confirming or denying the possibility.

Nina Dobrev has never said she is coming back to the show. There have been possibilities of her coming back for Season 8, even just for a two-episode finale to end the show completely. If Kat Graham, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley are all leaving at the end of Season 8, it looks like there is no future for the show, and bringing Dobrev’s character back for a few episodes would offer all fans complete closure.

Bonnie’s story is important for the Season 8 possibility. If it is possible to break the curse for Bonnie, it could also be possible for them to break the curse linking Elena and Bonnie, according to The Hollywood Life. After all, there is plenty of information in The Armoury to help them do that, even with them all dead after the vault monster attacked them.

Hollywood Life also goes on to suggest that Dobrev is not returning to The Vampire Diaries as Elena, but as Katherine. She was dragged to hell, and that storyline was somewhat closed off quickly. Fans enjoyed this doppelganger, and it would make sense for the writers to find a way to bring her back. Could it be that the vault was actually the doorway to hell, and Katherine is the one that has walked out or even taken over Elena’s unconscious body.

The Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries is not only about Bonnie and possibly Elena. Caroline and Alaric will have an important decision to make. It is possible that their Gemini twins will be needed to help deal with the vault monster, bringing them into important roles for Season 8. The synopsis for the episode doesn’t give away too much to see why the twins will be needed.

The CW will air the finale of the season this week, on Friday. Only then will all the answers become clear and an idea of what that vault monster really is be shared. The season has been a mix-match of storylines, with no real clear direction. It seems more of a season to set up the storyline for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 and possible crossovers with The Originals.
