Taylor Swift’s Grunge Look: Why Anna Wintour Can’t Take All The Credit

Taylor Swift got a little push from Anna Wintour to change up her hair and her style. Certainly, the busy editor in charge of Vogue couldn’t take all of the credit. Taylor Swift has gotten a little help from a certain fashion designer.

Taylor Swift’s look has evolved from international superstar to grunge rock queen. The 26-year-old debuted her hot new look on the cover of Vogue. She then debuted her bleached blonde hair and punk rock wardrobe at Coachella. At the festival, Swift swapped out her Keds sneakers and crop tops for black jumpsuits and mini dresses.

The singer also debuted her sexy new red carpet when she was co-chair of this year’s Met Gala. Taylor has found most of her influence from Los Angeles-based designer Mary Alice Haney. Her clothing line includes the black lace jumpsuit that Taylor wore when she was spotted out and about in New York City, leading up to her big debut at the Met Gala.

She also designed the racy “Gia dress” that Swift wore to the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 2. The designer revealed to Harper’s Bazaar that the pop star isn’t the only who’s rocked the edgy dress.

“Chrissy Teigen actually wore it when she was 10 months pregnant … [which] shows you the versatility of the dresses.”

Swift was also photographed in “The Blanca” one-shoulder glittery dress at Gigi Hadid’s 21st birthday party. Haney couldn’t contain her emotions when she saw the pop star wear the sexy number. She also spilled the details on who styled and dyed Swift’s hair.

“I wanted to burst into tears when I saw Taylor in that one-shoulder dress. She’s such a doll – she’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen. I think people may have viewed her style as very young – but the hair and her stylist Joseph Cassell are really helping her evolve.”

Whatever the designer is doing, it appears to be working. In addition to her May 2016 Vogue cover, Taylor Swift has landed the cover of Vogue’s Met Gala 2016 special issue. Additionally, she was named one of the best-dressed celebrities of the night, knocking out Claire Danes and her glow-in-dark Zac Posen gown.

According to Just Jared, Taylor Swift wore a silver Louis Vuitton dress, cut-out lace-up heels, a clutch, Mattia Celo earrings, and Eva Fehren ear cuff and rings, and a Borgioni white diamond ring that was not given to her by boyfriend Calvin Harris.

On April 14, Anna Wintour revealed on the Today show that she loves Swift’s new look. “I’m thrilled that it’s Taylor Swift,” Wintour said. “We very much wanted to give Taylor a new look. Make her into a rock ‘n’ roll chick.”

The country-turned-pop singer is also happy with her new look. “This is my favorite cover I’ve ever gotten to be a part of,” she wrote on Instagram. Taylor then followed up with a video post showing some love for her girl, Anna.

Taylor Swift is living up to her edgy new look. When she attended Coachella with BFF Gigi Hadid for the model’s birthday, their naughty behavior almost got them kicked out. EDM artist Flume told Nova 96.9 that during his set at Coachella, his manager noticed two girls dancing close to the sound booth and tried to get them to leave the area.

“I was playing at Coachella week two and my manager was watching the show from the lighting desk out on the crowd and these two girls came up and started dancing in front of him, like really full on. And he was like ‘god damit I need to get these girls out of here,’ so he went to ask them to move away from the sound booth and realized it was Taylor Swift and her friend that Gigi Hadid girl.”

But there was someone who was there to save them.

“Their security guard went up to him and goes, ‘you’re not kicking them out.'”

The more important question is how they were dancing at the festival. Were Swift and Hadid dancing close to each other more than usual? They did seem cozy on Hadid’s Snapchat account a few weeks ago.
