Usain Bolt’s Birthday Is Today: Olympic Track Star Turns 26, Is Still Awesome

Usain Bolt, the Jamaican track star often referred to as “the fastest man in the world,” celebrates his birthday Tuesday. Today the Olympic star turns 26 years old.

Now that the Olympics are over, Bolt, friends, and family have plenty to celebrate about. Bolt is the first man to hold both the 100 meters and 200 meters world records since the start of completely automatic time measurements. He also set the world record in the 4×100 meters relay along with his teammates and is the top Olympic champion in these three events. He is a five-time world champion and the first man ever to win six Olympic gold medals in sprinting.

He was also the first person to achieve a “double double,” winning 100m and 200m titles at two consecutive Olympic Games (2008 and 2012). Bolt even topped this: He achieved the first “double triple” (which included 4x100m relays), reports ShowBizSpy.

That’s a lot of stuff for just turning 26 today. I feel oddly self-conscious.

In any case, he holds six career gold medals and numerous nicknames lending to his preternatural speed including “fastest man in the world” and “Lightning Bolt.”

“It’s what I came here to do,” Bolt said after winning the 200 meters. “I’m now a legend. I’m also the greatest athlete to live.”

Sure, he’s not much for humility, but look at his record! He can be whatever he wants to be!

Birthday plans? Bolt is actually globetrotting right now, reports E!Online. Yesterday he was taking a helicopter tour over the Swiss Alps and tweeting pictures of the view after spending the weekend in Paris.

Happy 26th birthday, Usain Bolt. We can’t really advise you to do anything awesome that you aren’t already doing.
