Christina Aguilera To Perform With Whitney Houston Hologram On ‘The Voice’ Finale

Christina Aguilera will posthumously team-up with Whitney Houston on the Season 10 finale of The Voice.

Aguilera will reportedly hit the stage with a hologram version of the late singer on the final show of the current season on May 24, according to Entertainment Tonight, for what is being billed as a “special performance” by the two divas.

Christina played coy about the reported duet when quizzed about her supposed big performance on The Voice red carpet by the site this week, admitting that she was “sworn to secrecy” when it comes to what fans can expect from the big finale.

However, Christina did tease that there are “very exciting things happening” when the current season draws to a close at the end of this month and confessed to Entertainment Tonight that she is “very excited about the finale” happening in two weeks.

But while Aguilera wouldn’t give too much away about her reported digital duet with Whitney, Christina hasn’t exactly been shy about her love for the legendary singer in the past.

Following Whitney’s death in 2012, Christina described the “I Will Always Love You” singer as a “legend” on social media and noted that the star would “be missed.”

“We have lost another legend,” Christina Aguilera tweeted out following the news of Houston’s death in February 2012. “Love and prayers to Whitney’s family. She will be missed.”

Christina also performed a tribute to the superstar back in 2001 when she hit the BET Awards stage to honor Houston with a performance of her 1993 single, “Run To You.”

Houston praised Aguilera following her stellar performance at the award show more than 15 years ago, publicly thanking Aguilera on the BET stage.

“You are one that I truly enjoy in today’s music,” Whitney told Christina. “You’ve done the best rendition of ‘Run To You’ besides myself.”

Prior to her death, Whitney also gushed about Aguilera in a 2009 radio interview with New York’s Z100, where the star admitted that she thought Christina has “an incredible voice.”

A slew of fans took to social media to share their excitement about the upcoming Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston Voice hologram duet following Entertainment Tonight’s report, speculating that Aguilera and Houston’s performance will be “amazing.”

“It’s really happening y’all. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!” Twitter fan @DarthShada tweeted out, “Christina and a Whitney hologram on The Voice,” while @ethanrih wrote on the social media site, “Xtina’s Whitney tribute is gonna be amazing.”

“Watch how Xtina’s tribute to the legend Whitney Houston blow everyone away. Only legends can slay tributes,” @XtinasShawty added, and Twitter user @XtinaEcuador even noted that they thought Houston would be “flattered” that Aguilera is set to sing with her hologram.

“Whitney would feel flattered… Since SHE praised and loved [Christina’s] voice and music since her early beginnings,” the social user media and Aguilera fan wrote on the 140-character site.

Reports that Christina and a posthumous Whitney will be appearing alongside each other on upcoming finale of The Voice follows Hologram USA’s September 2015 announcement that Houston’s hologram will stream live on FilmOn.com this year.

According to a statement obtained by the New York Daily News, Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and president of her estate, admitted that the hologram is “a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come.”

The Voice finale is set to air on May 24 on NBC.
