LeeAnne Locken: Previous Drug-Filled Childhood Made Her Seek Help

LeeAnne Locken is making quite the impression on The Real Housewives of Dallas as she’s taking her role in the charity world very seriously. Locken is very proud of her work in the Dallas social scene, even though she doesn’t get money for all of her time and efforts. She’s a connector, and she likes to make connections in the social world. But her Real Housewives of Dallas co-stars don’t always understand her commitment to the charity world. Locken, however, may be so serious about the charity world because she’s had quite the childhood.

According to a new Radar Online report, LeeAnne Locken recently opened up about her drug-filled childhood. While LeeAnne herself wasn’t the one who was doing the drugs, she was surrounded by it, and she admits that she saw things that she probably shouldn’t have seen as a child.

“My mother married into the carnival circuit,” Locken has revealed of her childhood, adding, “I would spend my summers with my mom starting at age three.”

Apparently, LeeAnne Locken was surrounded by some illegal drugs and had plenty of opportunities to experiment. But getting out of the carnival life was the best thing she did, especially since she got out drug-free. She’s never done an illegal drug while she was in the carnival world.

“The best thing I got from the carnival was I’ve never done an illegal drug, ever,” she confessed, adding, “I saw so much of it and I thought, that’s not pretty.”

When it comes to things she shouldn’t have seen, LeeAnne Locken reveals that she once saw a man jump off a Ferris wheel because he was convinced that he could fly. No word on whether he passed away from the incident, but she’s clearly right about one thing; this is not the environment for a child.

“I thought, I never want to be like that,” she said. “I never want to be out of control from an illegal substance. A lot of bad happened to me. I attribute a lot of it to how I looked and who I was. I had a lot of therapy along the way to discover who I was as a human.”

Of course, LeeAnne Locken’s carnival past has come up on The Real Housewives of Dallas, and she has revealed that it was a rough past. And many her co-stars are using her past to explain her outrageous behavior on the show. On last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Dallas, Locken flipped out and threw a drink at her co-stars. Clearly, she wasn’t happy with the way things went down when it came to the women’s comments about the charity world. Many of her co-stars thought that LeeAnne was jealous of them, but she doesn’t think that.

“For anyone to say I don’t work and am poor is not only totally RUDE, but also pretty ironic coming from some who don’t have a career or job. Let’s be clear: I am NOT discounting raising children. That is the HARDEST job ever. But to set the record straight, I have a career. I am a working actress and have written 13 books,” LeeAnne Locken reveals in her Bravo blog, adding about her co-stars, “JEALOUS? OF WHAT EXACTLY? No, sweethearts. Jealousy is an ignorant person’s argument, so PLEASE keep using it.”

It sounds like Locken is proud of where she is now based on where she came from. Plus, she doesn’t sound embarrassed about her carnival past, or she would have kept it secret.

What do you think of LeeAnne Locken’s description of her childhood? Are you surprised that she was surrounded by drugs at such a young age?
