Katt Williams Facing Up To Six Months In Jail For Battery Charge

As if trouble hadn’t been brewing already, Katt Williams can’t seem to stay out of it.

The 42-year-old comedian is now facing battery charges. TMZ has reported that Williams was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery by Los Angeles County prosecutors. Williams is no stranger to the law, and he doesn’t appear to be stranger to physical altercations. This charge stems from a report that Katt Williams struck bystanders when he witnessed a car accident and tried to help those who were involved. Of course, there are multiple sides to every story. Katt Williams states that he was actually struck first, and that he was acting in self-defense when retaliating. Apparently, they had been making fun of Williams and his height beforehand.

Katt Williams is usually known for comedy, as he has played memorable roles along with Ice Cube in the Friday series. He regularly portrays a pimp, and has appeared on multiple shows and movies as such. There’s no telling why Williams keeps getting into physical incidents, but they no longer seem to be coincidence. Katt’s bond was moved to be revoked by Georgia prosecutors in a case that involved a former bodyguard, in which an assault case is pending. The reason for such a motion? HipHopDx reports that Williams threw a salt shaker at a restaurant manager back in April of this year. The comedian was arrested, though he posted bond and went on his way the following day.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, Katt Williams is considered an object of ridicule for the previous act of getting into a fight with a 17-year-old high school student. Video surfaced of only half of the altercation, with Williams striking the boy first. The reception of such an act was severe and harsh, many viewers criticizing that Williams was a bully and that he shouldn’t have acted. It wasn’t until later that more footage of the incident was revealed, and it appeared that the 17-year-old had initially provoked Katt Williams. Either way, Williams faced scrutiny that has given him a bad reputation with many of his former fans.

Katt Williams is even under the playful fire of fellow comedians and celebrities. Mike Epps, who also stars in the Friday movies, took jabs at the “vertically challenged” comedian. Williams has been the source of social media criticism, but he has his own opinions that have aired via videos that he has posted.

Some would even go so far as to call Williams delusional, and that he is not the same individual that he once was. Williams constantly expresses the fact that he is innocent, and that others are simply attempting to bring his character into question. A bold claim, and it becomes difficult to side with him when he stays within the scope of law enforcement on such a consistent basis. There have been statements that perhaps Katt Williams has simply had a breakdown, and that he is crying out for help.

What do you think of the comedian and the trouble that has befallen him? Do you believe that he is guilty? Do you believe that he is innocent? Either way, let us know in the comments.
