‘Madam Secretary’ Spoilers: Elizabeth Digs Into The Dmitri Mystery And Her Job Is On The Line During The Season 2 Finale

The Season 2 Madam Secretary finale airs Sunday night on CBS, and this should be a great episode. Henry and his fellow Murphy Station team members were able to take down their terrorist and return to safety despite some significant challenges, but the drama isn’t over yet. At the end of last week’s episode, Elizabeth learned some stunning news, and spoilers detail that viewers will see much more on this storyline during the May 8 finale.

Earlier in the second season of Madam Secretary, Elizabeth and the president were backed into a corner with Russia and had to give up the name of Henry’s operative in order to get a peace deal in place with Maria Ostrov. As everybody saw, Henry was just about to extract Dmitri when the Russians picked him up, and this led to some intense strife in Henry’s marriage with Elizabeth.

Henry, and now Elizabeth, have been making moves to try to get Dimitri’s sister Talia out of Russian custody. At the end of last Sunday’s episode, Elizabeth learned that Dmitri might not have been killed after all and is once again being used as a bargaining chip. Madam Secretary spoilers for the Season 2 finale detail that there is much more on the way regarding this juicy storyline.

According to TV Guide, Sunday’s episode is titled “Vartius.” Madam Secretary spoilers share that there is shocking news on the way regarding an important political operative, which most would figure means that Elizabeth will be able to confirm that Dmitri is still alive and perhaps connect with him. Will she be able to bring him safely back to the United States, and if so, what kind of concessions will she have to make to get the deal done? At what point will she bring Henry into the loop on this?

As this is playing out, Madam Secretary spoilers tease that Elizabeth will also discover that President Dalton is tossing around the idea of replacing her. Would he really make such a move? It seems doubtful, considering that the entire show revolves around Bess being the secretary of state. However, it seems that she will be scrambling and working to convince the president that she is the best one to hold the position no matter how delicate things have been lately.

Madam Secretary spoilers also share that Stevie and Jareth will get engaged during this Season 2 finale. She’s had some rocky relationships in the past, but Jareth seems to be a good guy who truly loves her and brings out the best in her. Elizabeth and Henry will surely rejoice at the news of the engagement, but some fans might wonder if there are shakeups around the corner with this supposedly easy and smooth relationship.

Will there be a cliffhanger at the end of the Season 2 finale? Fans will have to tune in to find out, but they will not have to be left hanging about whether the show will be back again in the fall. As TVLine shared in March, CBS has renewed Madam Secretary for Season 3, so there is more with Elizabeth, Henry, the Dalton team, and the McCord family on the way.

Can Elizabeth track down reliable information about Dmitri and find a way to bring him back to the States if he is indeed alive? She clearly will not have much help from Russell Jackson or President Dalton in this effort, but she will surely keep digging anyway. Will she be able to convince the president to keep her on in her position as he runs for re-election? There is a juicy Season 2 finale of Madam Secretary on the way, and fans cannot wait to see how this one ends.
