Justin Bieber strolling along a street has the power to stop traffic. Add in a mystery blonde and a new tattoo displayed on his face, and Bieber fever recently soared in New York.

Already displaying a variety of tattoos on his body, Justin got his first face tattoo at the West 4th Tattoo Parlor in New York. Accompanying the 22-year-old pop star was a mystery blonde, according to the Daily Mail.

To avoid any security problems, guards shut down the tattoo parlor during Bieber’s session so that no one else could enter except those accompanying him. Also present was JonBoy, an internationally famous tattoo artist.

After completing the body art process, Bieber emerged with a tiny cross by his left eye. Accompanying him was his pal Joe Termini, who kept him company by getting his own matching tattoo that looked like a cross.

The two enjoyed partying at Up & Down after the tattoo session. At the Manhattan hot spot, Justin delighted those present by performing “What Do You Mean?” and “Sorry.” But although the crowd loved the impromptu songs, Beliebers weren’t happy with his tattoos.

“Justin Bieber got a face tattoo, does he think he’s Lil Wayne or something?!” questioned one Twitter user.

Another found some humor in the situation.

“If Justin Bieber really got a face tattoo I’m demanding a refund on the last 8 years.”

And an Instagram user questioned the cross.

“Did he die?” asked that follower.

Others hoped that the decision to put a tattoo on his face wouldn’t motivate him to add more.

The decision to add a face tattoo to his body art was a surprise because the pop star previously had said that he did not plan to have a tattoo put on his face until he was older.

“Maybe when I’m really old, not super old, but maybe, like, 40s or 50s or something,” he clarified. “One above my eyebrow or something small.”

But apparently he couldn’t wait. However, Beliebers can relax about any concerns that their idol will cover his face with tiny tattoos.

“I think if they’re done right, they could be cool, but nothing super crazy all over the face,” added Justin.

Bieber spent time at a belated Cinco de Mayo party at La Esquina in SoHo, chatted with fans, and then wandered around New York. His selfie summed up his reaction and promise for Philly fans.

“Resting up for the show in Philly it’s gonna be a good one mark my words,” Justin posted.

In addition to the new face tattoo, Bieber boasts more than 50 tattoos, ranging from “Purpose” (the title of his album) to a pair of wings, a huge cross, and Jesus Christ, according to Us Weekly.

The Twitter tattoo tempest is still going strong.

“[D]oes anyone else feel like he may have been nicked by a cat? It’s very small, no one should be looking that hard to notice,” joked one Twitter response.

As for what the tiny cross means, despite the social media speculation that it was a cat scratch or a mosquito bite, it does have significance, the tattoo artist told E! News.

“Yes, I did tattoo a small cross near the corner of Justin’s eye,” revealed tattoo artist Jonathan “JonBoy” Valena. “It was a representation of his faith in Jesus and his journey with finding purpose in God.”

In addition, the artist shared a clearer image of Bieber with the tattoo on Instagram.

“F A I T H #hillsongnyc #justinbieber #jonboytattoo,” he wrote as the caption.

And amid all the ruckus, one individual urged that people stop hating Justin’s new tattoo.

“I dont see how @justinbieber tattoo is effecting most people its so tiny! Its his body [sic] #StopHating.”
