‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Will Not Include Any Marvel TV Characters, Sorry ‘Daredevil’ And ‘Jessica Jones’

Avengers: Infinity War is Marvel’s most ambitious project to date. Not only is the film part of a two-movie series that wraps up everything that has taken place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it will also include more superheroes than ever before. Unfortunately, while fans are certainly looking forward to the film’s release, it will not include any of Marvel’s TV characters.

According to Cinema Blend, Avengers: Infinity War will introduce Thanos as the main villain. Thanos has grand plans in store for the Avengers and is set to use the Infinity Stones in order to defeat the team of heroes. Thanos has been featured in past films in the franchise but has remained behind-the-scenes.

Thanos’ plan is a serious threat to the Avengers. In order to take him out, the movie will incorporate some 75 different superheroes, which is by far the largest number in Marvel’s history on the big screen. With so many characters included in the movie, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that they simply don’t have time to introduce any more.

Just think of all the characters that haven’t been introduced yet that are going to be introduced by the time that we’re working on Infinity War,” Joe explained to the outlet. “We have a tough task just telling the stories of the characters who exist [on the big screen] in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone adding the entire Marvel Television Universe.”

That being said, the Russo brothers did not rule out a TV appearance or two and even admitted that they are considering the option. However, given how their main focus is expanding the MCU and incorporating the big name characters, it seems unlikely that any television heroes will make their way to the big screens.

“Anything is possible in the Marvel Universe. It’s certainly something we’re considering,” Joe continued in the interview. “But our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side.”

Before the Russo’s revelations, fans had hoped that a few of Marvel’s TV characters would appear in the company’s biggest on-screen adaption yet. According to International Business Times, the Avengers have been mentioned in a number of Marvel’s television series, including Daredevil and Jessica Jones. With other shows such as Luke Cage and Iron Fist in the works, many thought that the television and movies world would eventually collide.

According to Movie News Guide, if any of the characters are included, heroes from Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are the most likely candidates.

Although characters like Jessica Jones will probably not be included in Avengers: Infinity War, fans can rest assured that the film will include plenty of other heroes. This includes everyone in the first two Avengers and some characters from Guardians of the Galaxy, though it still is not clear which characters will make the final cut.

Furthermore, Marvel is planning on releasing a number of other standalone films that will introduce even more characters into the MCU. Many of these new faces will undoubtedly make their way into the movie in some way or another. With Avengers: Infinity War still two years away from its premiere, there is still plenty of time for development.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is scheduled to open in theaters on May 4, 2018, while the second installment will hit theaters a year later.
